I can only say one thing and that would be "WOW"! It was a very very very enjoyable show full of surprises (he played 3 songs off of "almost blue"). Elvis was in prime form, telling stories and basically being a showman. A highly entertaining 2 and 1/2 hours (i think he played about 25 songs). Seeing Elvis would have been enjoyable enough, however, something even more magical happened at the ryman...

I met Yo La Tengo. That's right, Yo La Tengo, also known as one of my favorite bands EVER. They were recording their newest album in Nashville, and decided to take a break from recording to see mr. costello. I was walking thru the crowd, trying to find a beverage, when i recognize Ira and Georgia from the band. I instantly freak out yet also try to remain calm. I talked to Ira and Georgia , and had a really good conversation. We talked about how the next album is going to sound among other things. I dont think I had ever felt that starstruck before in my entire life. (Sigh... rolleyes.gif ) I nearly cried. It was truly one of the happiest moments of my life.

Yes, Ray, it was an incredible show. I was blown away, for I (forgive me) was not expecting quite so much greatness from Elvis Costello. I was amazed at the breadth of his live show - going from classic rock'n'roll to the most tender acoustic ballads to honky tonkin country to great pop songs to punk/new wave - I mean he did it all...and very very well. It just shows what an incredibly prolific career he's had. Also, his band kicked ass.

I didn't see anyone from Yo La Tengo, but I did see Kurt Wagner and Steve Earle.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

The show was quite amazing. Mr. Costello did a spectacular job. It's one of the best shows I've seen. I had a wonderful night.

Watching (I being too shy to actually say anything) Ray Davies meet Yo La Tengo was an amazing and unexpected highlight of the night...simply amazing.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

Ahhh....I am finally getting around to looking at the board and must give my Elvis account.

Well...the music was amazing. Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down, Uncomplicated, Brilliant Mistake (Tangled Up in Blue), I Can't Stand Up for Falling Down....the list goes on and on. I was amazed. I had really great seats and actually was standing by the stage for the last encore. I got some great pictures and a very nice Hatch Show poster. I am looking forward to Thursday when we will be reunited in Atlanta.

I am glad that everyone else enjoyed the show as well. He is amazing. I love him and want to marry him. It could happen....
