anyone going to see it tonight?

i am not a huge star wars fan, so i'm mainly just along for the ride tonight. i'd almost rather see 'about a boy.'
but i do have fond memories of seeing episode 1 in NYC at 10:00 am.

I can't say that I'm going, but I know a guy who watched this morning at 2:45. Here they have 12:01 and 2:45 showings at a theater that has the Lucas System...It was rated among the top 5 theaters to see Episode 1 in, so every fanatic goes there. As for me, I may go see it, but I haven't even seen Episide 1.

I think that too many people think this way - not just about star wars but music and other things - just because it has a star wars label does not make it good - I never saw episode 1 and I don't need to see episode 2 or 3 the old ones are just fine by me

I saw Ep2 Wednesday night and it blew me away! I can't wait to see it again. I think that I will end up seeing it *at least* two more times in the theater. Yes, it is that good.

Episode 2:
-Natalie Portman's costumes were wonderfully revealing.
-The acting, or probably the writing actually, left something to be deisred.
-I was dissapointed at first that they didn't use the Yoda puppet, but then I didn't mind anymore when he became central to the story.
-The first few 'foreshadowing' references to the original movies were cool, but the next million were overkill. OK, Anakin gets his hand caught under a metal thing, yes he will become Darth Vader.. I get it, already!
-Lucas likes to spell things out. Wouldn't it have been nice to not see the two bad guys talking together at the end? Let the audience make that connection?
-Fight scenes were very awesome, especially with the Jedi.
-Natalie Portman's costumes couldn't have been better.

wouldn't it also have been nice to not read about any of the ending before I got to see the movie. I guess I'll go tonight so no one ruins it for me.

i loved it. i'll venture to say that it's better than 'jedi'. it had a lot of suspense. i like that malicious laugh that little boba fett does when his dad drops the seismic charges on obi-wan. to jc or keith(or both): let me know when you're going to see it again. i don't think smee would go a second time.

Next time I see it (probably sometime next week) I'm going to see it on the IMAX screen at Opry Mills. I saw Spiderman there and it was badass. 7-story screen!

Man, I was just telling some friends tonight that that movie should be shown on the IMAX screen, since they did it for lord of rings. Awesome that it's really happening.

-Yoda's lightsaber battle was awesome *and* hilarious.
-Little Boba Fett is a possessed midget.
-The actor who plays Anakin cannot pull off the love scenes, but I forgive him.

I've stopped reading this thread until I get a chance to see the movie. I tried yesterday, but it was still all sold out hours in advance.

The motto for the prequels that George Lucas needs to report over and over, 'Just because I can, doesn't mean I should.'

Still, this one was much better than Ep 1.  It had its strong points--
Natalie Portman's outfits
the flying Artoo
lack of Jar Jar (of course)

The story gets muddy and slow in many places.  So much foresadows too much to the later films.  The computer generated Yoda over-acts compared to the Muppet.  Anakin is in no way likable enough for a goody goody like Amidala to go for his kind (unless there's a cut scene where he shows off his light saber).  The action scenes (before the last one, that is) add little to nothing to the story.  The Boba/Jango Fett thing is forced into the story to the point that it feels like a cheap trick to improve the movie.  Same with the fighting Yoda.

Who's light saber, Yoda's or Tim's?

I saw the movie tonight and liked it a lot, definately better than ep1. I will allow for some classic Star Wars cheesiness (C3PO:'I'm beside myself') if the rest of the movie makes up for it. The land and cityscapes were amazing.

I finally saw Episode 2 lastnight. It wasn't great but, it was tolerable. There were a few cool scenes. Man! Freakin' oda moves like a mad man. That was the baddest ass light saber fight I've seen.

Can we safely assume that Sith guys are twice as good as the Jedi? In both of the prequels, a Sith dude easily handles two Jedi at the same time.

What a sham... I've always thought the Jedi were supposed to be these ultimate fighting dudes.

The guy who playe Anakin sucked ass! Some cheese ass actor like Johnathan Taylor Thomas could have done a much better job than this guy. What a shitty casting decision.
