if anyone who's heading to the clinic tomorrow doesn't have tickets email me @ joecolvert@hotmail.com before say noon and i'll sell/trade/barter. or perhaps let jamiecarroll know, as i shall be meeting up with his gang of thugs. i have two extras.
You know you have problems, with both money and alcohol, when you find yourself shoving beers down your pants outside a Features show.

So, the show should be about over. How was it?

l liked it.....well.....two complaints.
1. the show barely broke 30 minutes.
2. the musicians showed no energy.
they didn't seem disinterested and you could tell they were into it, but they stayed rather motionless. neuboy ran onstage after the show to find out what kind of organ they had. i didn't watch the opening bands....i was relaxing on a velvet chair in the lounge room.

I thought they were moderately great. The surgical gear was creepy. The bass player was amazing. The set was shorter than the Strokes'. They really had their act together. There was just a little something missing that I can't exactly put my finger on.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

The Strokes show at 328 was only that long, but that's because they only have that much material. I thought Clinic had more than that.

they have a lot more material than that. maybe they had jetlag. they also played everything w/o a drum machine about 10 bpm faster than the recordings. that was a good thing.

i will say that the first ten seconds of the clinic show alone were worth the eight hour drive, as i was completely caught off guard by how beautifully loud it was, how it came out of nowhere, and how everyone around me had their hands smashed immediately to their ears, except of course neuboy who uttered something along the lines of an excited 'fuck.' the exliontamer has it dead on though...too short with nothing happening on stage.
oh and while i'm here, i'd like to say how much i thought that the departure lounge sucked, and how i don't understand the buzz surrounding our city's very own british band. ummm, are they just cool because they're british? the simultaneous horns were rad, but they were only used for like five seconds in that love songs after dark sounding song. oh, and their set was longer than clinic's.
