I, of course, voted for ESB because it is funny, dramatic, suspenseful, action packed, kinda scary, the sets and the movie is just beautiful, and the acting is the best out of all the movies. It's my favorite Star Wars movie and my favorite movie period.

Plus my avatar came from it.

This has been discussed before, but there's never been a poll.
I think the better discussion would be which is your second favorite Star Wars film.

Empire is definitely the best. Although the simultaneous fight scenes in Return are pretty action packed.. but that one is just a little too cute.

Dude, that's pretty messed up. I can understand someone not wanting to watch Star Wars. But if you miss The Simpsons, you're simply depriving yourself of the sharpest satire of our generation.

I like the part at the end of RotJ where Yoda, Obi Wan, and Anakin are burning in Jedi hell.

the main reason why digsy doesnt like The Simpsons is (and i quote)..."it doesnt have continuity." Digsy likes shows with storylines that go on for ages. At first, i was surprised by his dislike of the simpsons, but i've grown to accept it.

Okay, yes I do not like the Simpsons. Part of it is the continuity thing (I am a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in which characters grow and evolve and also acknowledge the fact that previous episodes have occured) but the main reason is that the show just comes off as scattershot and random to me. I have watched episodes but I have never laughed at it and the storytelling just seems to be off to me. I enjoy South Park, I enjoy King of the Hill and even Futurama to a degree, but the Simpsons has never clicked with me. And I am not "depriving" myself of the best satire of this generation. Just because I don't watch the show doesn't mean that I'm "depriving" myself of anything. If that was the case, then about 20 million CSI watchers are "depriving" themselves of actual true life, honest-to-God genius storytelling, acting, symbolism, and characters that can be found weekly in shows like Buffy, Angel and Alias merely because they are "genre" shows. I dislike the Simpsons. Period. I don't like being treated like I have leprecy when people find out about this.

And this isn't directed towards the board at all, it's just my general opinion of the show and it's how I feel towards the subject. No one on the board has made me mad or anything, I just felt the need to vent a little.

And the Game Show thing I must clarify: I hate most game shows. I really only enjoy Match Game, Family Feud, Let's Make A Deal, Newlywed Game, and Hollywood Squares sometimes. I enjoy those because of the personalities of the panelists or contestants NOT because of the actual games.

Phew. And Return of the Jedi is my second fave SW movie.

Since about everything I say is either sarcastic or a pun, I am usually able to pick up on it on the board.

But when it comes to certain subjects I need to be sure (Oasis, Buffy, comics...three things that get no respect usually)...

a lot of people's attatchment to star wars is because of nostalgia. i think you either had to love them as a kid or see them during an awkward phase as a late maturing teenager. i voted for a new hope. empire used to be my favorite but greedo, carrie fisher's random british accent, that shiny black radio contolled car in the death star, the wobbly interrogation droid, and chewie's combed moustache make a new hope the superior movie. oh and lest i forget, jed porkins.....the finest man to ever grace an x-wing.

Opry Mills has been known to suck your soul out. The Mills effect is a lot like seasonal depression I do believe.

And I must be as much of a geek as Exliontamer because I did indeed grin with remembrance at everything he listed. Porkins even has an action figure...and I must also add that Wedge Antilles ( the only X-Wing fighter other than Luke to survive all three movies) is one of my favorite Star Wars characters.

When they were airing those Mills effect commercials, I always wished that they would have had one featuring Mike Mills.

I might be showing my age here, but i actually watched the Star Wars Christmas special when it was on TV back in 1978. It was very funny, though not on purpose. The main thing I remember is Chewbacca going back to his planet and he has a family!...and if I remember correctly I think they lived in treelike homes.
I chose "A New Hope" for my favorite(I prefer Empire), because it was the first movie I ever went to, and it was at a drive-in theater.

All these are correct, Mysterious you. I immediately purchased a copy when I saw a poll that voted it the worst television ever. My favorite is when Carrie Fisher sings a "Life Day" song to the tune of the Star Wars theme. Priceless.

I saw AOTC on the IMAX this weekend. The visuals of the movie and the sound are great on the seven-story screen. If you have a night and 22 bucks to throw away, it's worth a watch.

There were indeed several things taken out. The parts with Senator Palpatine and Jar Jar were trimmed to almost nothing. The crap romance story was taken out (they fortunately left in the wonderful line about sand...) Some of the stupid preachy parts about Lucas' spoon-fed philosophy on government were thankfully taken out. I could only think of a couple of places where action sequences were trimmed. This made the story more shaky to the point that I wonder if someone could follow it if they hadn't seen the full thing.

I thought that if anything, Lucas would have lengthened it and thrown in the DVD deleted scenes for the IMAX release. I'm waiting and will buy the AOTC DVD later since I know it came out today.

...will buy the AOTC DVD later since I know it came out today.
i hate the advertising campaign for the AOTC DVD. if anyone hasnt seen it, here's the catch phrase: "who da man?"........"yoda man". i rolled on the floor laughing over the stupidity of that one the very first time i saw it.

stupidity..........or SHEER BRILLIANCE? clearly, someone has missed the joke here. you see, it's like the phrase, "YOU DA MAN!" only "YOU DA" has been humorously replaced with "YODA".....so it's like "YODA IS DA MAN".....also in case anyone had trouble with that play on words, later in the ad they say "YODA DA MAN" to help clear things up.

i rest my case.

maybe all this has been mentioned, but i don't feel like reading this entire thread. as a film, empire is the best, but i'll always love a new hope the most. that said, i voted for empire.
