Posted  Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at 1:15 AM
Post 1 of 64
Alright, here's what I'm thinking...(for those of you who care to be in this discussion, the rest can just skip over this topic)

I will post a list of my Top 25 favorite wrestlers of all time. I will surely forget some. Anyone can post theirs. We will compare lists and formulate a definitive Features Message Board Top 25 Favorite Wrestlers of All-Time. I expect at least five of you to be in on this. There is no order necessary, but you can organize your list if you want.

RD's Top 25 Favorite Wrestlers of All-Time
Ultimate Warrior
Mr. Perfect
"Ravishing" Rick Rude
Bret Hart
Shawn Michaels
Arn Anderson
Ted Dibiase
"Texas Tornado" Kerry Von Erich

Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake
Dusty Rhodes
Paul Orndorf
Bobby Eaton
Terry Funk
Tito Santana
Rick Martel
Road Warriors/Legion of Doom (Hawk & Animal) (2)

I know that Ray Davies will have Dino Bravo on his list.

Did you know Dino Bravo was killed by the Canadian mafia?

My favorite wrestler when I was little was Brutus Beefcake. He recently got in trouble too. He was working at a toll booth and left his post and there was an anthrax scare. He later admitted it was his, and it was cocaine, not anthrax.

Anyway, it will be tough for me to compile a list because I loved Hulk Hogan so much when I was a kid (I think I may have cried when Earthquake "put him in the hospital"), but hated him immensly later on. I'll put some thought into this though.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

He dropped a shipment of Canadian bacon and hockey sticks that he was trying to sneak over the border. The authorities got involved, and Bravo was too much of a liability for them to keep around...

Isn't that other wrestler pronounced Stiiiiing (like Will Ferrel from the Oscars??)

More recent:
Chris Jericho (especially in his later WCW days)

Mick Foley
Bret Hart
Rey Mysterio Jr.
Taz (ECW)
Chris Benoit

Sunny when she was hot
Razor Ramon

Here's a related question- Favorite wrestling moment of all time?

Mine is when Chris Jericho debuted in the WWF. It was late '99 and he was my favorite wrestler at the time, and for weks there was a mysterious counter counting down to the "new millenium," but if you did the math, it wan't counting down to 1/1/00. I suspected it may be the debut of Jericho, but there was no way to be sure. Then The Rock was doing an interview and all of the sudden the counter comes on the screen and hits 0, and Jericho (Y2J) does the most incredible entrance ever. Then he verbally attacks The Rock, which was amazing considering he was just a mid-carder in WCW and here he was going after the biggest wrestler of them all. Man, I had goosebumps.

Too bad wrestling sucks now.

brutus "the barber" beefcake
okay, i understand jake "the snake" roberts and eddie "hot stuff" gilbert, but with a name like "brutus beefcake," is a nickname really necessary?

i was all about wrestling in elementary school, though i remember little about it. my mom has all sorts of wrestling memorabilia from when she was a teen, including hilarious pictures and a lavendar randy savage t-shirt. guess it was in the blood.

My only experience with wrestling was having lengthy discussions with my cousins about how it was 100% real. I was 5 at the time. I went through a secret wrestling phase around 1998 due to my sister's influence, but it was more to make fun of it (no matter how true that statement is, no one will believe me). I did have Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior action figures in my childhood though...

I don't really have a favorite wrestler..but when I was little I can remember one of my Aunt's boyfriends quoting the Macho Man. Is that his name? lol the guy who did the Slim Jim commercials. I thought that was funny. I started watching wrestling some once when I was in high school for about 3 or 4 months I liked watching the popular wrestlers The Rock, and Stone Cold, The undertaker, all of those guys.

My favorite wrestling moment was probably when Shawn Michaels beat Bret Hart for the WWF title, the second time. From what I remember, Vince McMahon ordered that Bret lose to Michaels (my favorite wrestler/entertainer of all-time) during the end of the match. Shawn Michaels used Bret Hart's own move to beat him and the whole Degeneration X thing was kind of born out of that, from what I remember. The Canadiens VS. DX thing after that was fucking awesome.

I was all about the Jericho thing too, Keith.

I'll try not to go into it very deep, but that's kinda inaccurate. There is a documentary called "Wrestling With Shadows" that follows this whole ordeal and is actually a really interesting movie if you care about this stuff at all (which I know pretty much no one here does).

Anyway, the Canadiens vs. DX thing happened before and up to this match, not after, as this was the very last match Bret Hart had in the WWF, and all the other Canadiens followed, except for Owen Hart (who would still be alive if he quit like the rest of them). What happened was, Bret had already decided to go to WCW, but he wanted to beat Shawn Michaels in front of his hometown crowd that night, and agreed to lose the belt the next night on Raw. He and Vince argued about the outcome of that match, and eventually Vince gave in (or so Bret thought). Turns out, Vince came out during the match and told the ref to ring the bell and say that Bret submitted, which he didn't. Bret got very pissed and punched out Vince. The crowd turned on Vince, which gave him the idea for the evil "Mr. McMahon" character that took off as the foil to Steve Austin. Anyway, it all seems silly since wrestling is fake, but Bret takes it very seriously.

I'm glad my 1300th post was about wrestling.

haha. i think you should be forced to do the trivia while playing legends of wrestling at my house. there could be multiple rounds, each of increasing question difficulty and intoxication level. the questions would count as a point a piece and winner of the gamecube match would recieve 5 points. minds would be boggled.

Ok, this should take place. perhaps at the just-announced apt. a15 sketch party in the boro...

Here's my two cents: I have a feeling that Keith knows more about the past few years of wrestling than Ray Davies, but when it comes to obscure, old-ass wrestling trivia...RD2 has never ceased to amaze me. This must take place and there should be a panel of judges, no supreme judge. I say that Brother Love, myself, Carl, and damon should be the judges, with others joining in as necessary.

hopefully someone will get power-bombed through the official wrestling trivia cardtable

I admit my wrestling triva is strongest from WWF '90-present and WCW '94-its death. I'll have a hard time with NWA and real old school WWF trivia, but I still think I can hold my own.

Oh, and I'll also kick ass at 90210 or Saved By The Bell trivia if you want to throw that in there.

I want to get into this trivia biznass, mainly because I feel that I'm not getting enough attention. Anyone want to challenge me in X-Trivia? No takers? Eh...oh well...

First off, thanks. You make me feel loved. Secondly, anyone to challenge you in X-trivia would be a damn fool, although it would be fun to watch.

We should really get down to business with this.

I.e.- who is to come up with questions, how many questions, time limits, etc. I at first thought that Keith and Ray Davies could come up with questions for eachother, but after thinking back on some of the spectacular knowledge that has been dropped on me, I don't know if anyone would be able to answer a question in that case. I propose that the judges come up with questions over beer and a night of Legends of Wrestling II.
you're everybody's second home
always trying to get me alone
an easy way to lose it all
always there when all else fails

It hasn't died. Ray Davies and I have discussed it outside of the confines of this message board and we have decided that RichardDawson is in charge of arranging it (he has a lot of free time, folks). I think Carligula, RD, Brother Love, and Damon will all be involved in the judging/fact checking/scoring. All I want to have to do is show up, drink, and kick me some Ray Davies ass!!!
I TOTALLY AGREE!

I have to correct myself- We all know Carligula will never be involved in scoring! ZING
