Alright, I'm in. When's the draft?
Everyone will be assigned players randomly based on player ratings. Teams theoretically should be even. After this, you can waive, trade, sign free agents, et cetera, if you don't like who you've got. The draft will start when I've decided that everyone who is going to play has signed up. We don't have to have 12. That's just the max. We do have to have an even number. We've got 3 right now. So...

Sign up bitches.

Yeah, so I'm pretty much getting my ass kicked. I had such a good (lucky...coughautodraftcough) start, but now unfortunately the 55 Million Watts are fading fast. But you know, if I add up all of the time I've spent thinking about my team and making moves, it would not even be 15 minutes. I hastily made a couple of injury-related moves on a whim, but generally I haven't touched my team. I guess I just don't know baseball enough anymore to have a clue about what to do. I check the box score for the Cubs game most everyday, but that's about it.

I had really mixed emotions about Clemens pitching against the Cubs at Wrigley today.

I hadn't seriously followed baseball in four years until this season, but I think I have an alright team. You can learn everything you need to know by watching Baseball Tonight and checking the league statistics (week-to-week and seasonal).

Clemens was my favorite player when I was growing up, playing little league. Then he went to the Yankees, so I was forced to hate him for 5 years. But since he's been with the Astros, I've actually been kind of rooting for him again, even though the 'stros are the Cubs' division rivals. But seeing him manhandle the Cubs yesterday at Wrigley, the emotions of hate started to bubble up again. I don't know how I feel about him now.

i am excited about prior being back...too bad i can't see or hear it, as i will be working. the thing with prior is (like clemens) he knows how to utilize his leg strength, so if his legs are indeed ok, he'll be ok...tomorrow may be a little shaky, but i'll predict a win, and more to come...and i hope so, cos if not, the cubs are screwed. they've been going the wrong way as of late...rest assured, though, wrigley will be rocking tomorrow...wish i was there. i'm going at the beginning of july for two games against the 'stros. can't wait.

Prior pitched exceptionally well today. If it were not for Sketch Club superstar Craig Wilson, the Cubbies could have won it. Luckily, ace Sketch Club reliever Jose Mesa got the save.

All fantasy baseball aside, I was hoping that the Cubs would win.

well, the naysayers were saying nay, but i knew he'd come out pitching like mark prior...he's my hero. of course, the loss had less to do with craig wilson and more to do with joe borowski...he's worthless. the cubs better start figuring some shit out soon and get out of this tailspin.

it's early, but of the teams doing well thus far, who would you like to see win their divisions?

AL East - New York (say what you will, but you know you love to hate them in the playoffs)
AL Central - Minnesota
AL West - Anaheim
AL Wild Card - Oakland

NL East - Florida
NL Central - Chicago
NL West - Los Angeles
NL Wild Card - Houston

Honorable mentions for Texas, Chicago (AL), San Diego, St. Louis, or Pittsburgh. This is a great year.

Since this is a baseball thread, I assume you are speaking of Cal State Fullerton who are hosting a NCAA Regional this weekend. The other teams in the regional are Arizona State, Minnesota and Pepperdine. The winner will face the winner of the Mississippi regional (Mississippi, Washington, Tulane and Western Kentucky) in a best-of-three super regional (June 11-13 or 12-14) with a berth in the College World Series (June 18-28) on the line

it isn't irrelevant in this way--vanderbilt (yes, that vanderbilt) is in the ncaa's in baseball for the first time since 1980. they've a very good team, with more than a decent chance of making the college world series--they won their opener last night, defeating george mason 7-3...pushing their overall record on the season to something like 43-17--like i said, they're very good.

I'm sorry Ceeze, but I'm afraid college baseball is irrelevant.
it isn't irrelevant in this way--vanderbilt (yes, that vanderbilt) is in the ncaa's in baseball for the first time since 1980. they've a very good team, with more than a decent chance of making the college world series--they won their opener last night, defeating george mason 7-3...pushing their overall record on the season to something like 43-17--like i said, they're very good.
Yes, I'm proud of Vandy. How crazy is it that (except for football, of course) this has been one of the best overall years in the history of Vanderbilt athletics. It's obvious that basketball and baseball have had great seasons. But the golf teams, the tennis teams, the lacrosse team, and the track team have all gone deep into the NCAA tournaments. And all of this success is after the reorganization that was supposed to kill Vanderbilt athletcs!

But though I'm proud of Vandy baseball, the bats do still go "dink."

we should direct all future baseball threads to the "news and politics" section. and run it like pirates.

Yeah, it's funny we haven't had any discussion about the passing of Ronald Reagan. I wonder why that is?

I know, I know. I was just being a smartass. The resident Reagan-haters are actually showing a great deal of restraint and class in keeping their comments to themselves. Carry on.

oh sorry...sarcasm doesn't translate well into print. yeah, it was fairly obvious though, so i should have picked up on it...to change the subject quickly--how 'bout those commodores? region champs and heading to the college world series for the first time ever...i'm very impressed--now if we could just get atleast 6 wins from the football team, the improbable runaway success of vandy athletics would be complete, for the year anyway.

all you need to know is that in the superregional they play a best of three to see who goes to omaha for the cws...and texas is a team that is in the thing year in and year out--so vandy's got their work cut out...i think they can play with them though. vandy's shown a lot of toughness and they play smart, so i feel good about their chances.

why did the dp and al qaeda have to ruin my winning streak?? I finally retooled my team a little today. My pitching staff has been spead so thin! Four of my starters have gone on the DL in the past month. It's pathetic. Hopefully, I can recover.

the dp have really come on, but what's with the exorcising demons? you were doing really well for a while.

Poor management, hitting slumps, no production from my closers, bad luck (i.e. losing a lot of statistical categories by close margins, or facing other sqauds when they're ungodly hot)

In retrospect, I wish I'd set the league up as a rotisserie league. I think I'd be doing a lot better under those rules.

Also, I'm considering auctioning off dcsunob2000's team because of his percieved indifference in playing the game. If I do that, I'm just going to man his team based solely on "Moneyball". What do the other owners think?

As of right now, the Features Fantasy Baseball Championship game has officially gone "epic". It's 11-11 with three days left in the fourteen day series and I still am not exactly sure who is going to win. I do know that Mitch hasn't lost a match-up since the All-Star break.
