forgive me, i'm kinda new here but...

has this ever been attempted? i know a few of us here are in bands or play instruments

it would be a cool thing to do, a bunch of people could contribute their own versions or vague approximations of features songs, we make a master cd, other people could do the art. everybody chip in a few bucks. make a bunch of copies and spread it out amongst the board. it would be fun.

i would be willing to organize if nobody else would

also...
the band i'm in is playing new faces at slow bar tonight. we're called ghost bridge. i'm the dude playing guitar. say hola to me if any of you happen to be there.

Features Message Board members can't make a tribute CD, because who would be there to trash it? Outsiders must make it, so we can feel free to say how horrible it is.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

That's a cool idea. I've never heard of anyone doing Features covers. I could take a shot at one on the 'ol 4-track here, but it would be pretty lo-fi. And probably pretty bad.

damon and I considered doing a version of "dark room" for fun. i would play autoharp while damon would play acoustic guitar, but alas it never happened...it probably would have sounded pretty terrible.

I kind of like this idea. Even if it was made my message board people, we could still make fun of it!

Doesn't Silent Friction cover "Rabbit March" at some of their shows? I think there was once an East Tennessee band that covered "Thursday," too.

ray, the autoharp is the only instrument that I can play, but it's still pretty cool. I always wanted to hook it up to some distorition pedals and such to see what it could do.

I don't know about that whole song, but I do know they are known to do short "teases" of various songs during their shows, including Armani Suede.

I always wanted to see a "R.I.P. Spongebath" show at The Boro. I know they've had tribute shows there for The Pixies, Van Halen, et cetera. I think it would be fun to see a bunch of bands covering songs from the "Murfreesboro is the next Athens/Seattle" era.

That would be the coolest! But who's left that could play the piano parts of Fluid Ounces songs?

It would have to be a pretty liberal cover if I wanted to play the drums anything like rollum on a features song.

Well, we already have that mysterious & badass version of See You Through. I've started Features sing-a-longs at parties & they were pretty sucky (but really fun). But it's a good idea for those with actual talent.

tribute cds yes are cool but i fear i would suck too much at covers and tehn feel exposed.
as of now i would currently like to cover,"we're moving right along" by the muppets and any strokes song.
