TOPIC: For all the critics out there

Zagat, that group that puts out guidebooks to restaurants & other things, is compiling a book about the greatest albums ever. Yes, this is totally not in their area of expertise and promises to be disappointing. But you can register at Zagat.com to review albums & rate them for inclusion in the book. So if you feel like your opinion is never heard here, go to Zagat. Plus you get a free copy of the book when it comes out if you register & review.

Too bad Chris Farley is no longer with us... His collaboration with Adam Sandler on this would be priceless, I'm sure.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

Everyone reading this right now hould just prepare for the disappointment that this will bring. As bad as Rolling Stone and Spin's lists have been received here, this will be even worse. If their movie guide is any indication, anyway.

What kinda owl are we talking? I'd take that bet on a burrow owl or even maybe a barn owl, but if you're talking great horned owl, I'm out, to rich for my blood.

The Sex Pistols cannot get more credit than they deserve. You are looking at that album with 2003 jaded eyes. Bollocks was more about the social change and upheval it was expressing at the time. Whether they were the first "boy band" as Malcolm McLaren claims or hip scenesters as John Liden would have you think, there's no denying what Bollocks and the band did to the music scene.

Same could be said for Nirvana's "Nevermind". It is, in my opinion, their worst album. Way over produced. Give me "In Utero" any day. But Nevermind will be on best albums lists forever because of the social significance at the time. I was a bit to young to be immediately impacted by the Sex Pistols, but I was right in the middle of it for the second punk wave. You "knew" something was happening and I can only imagine that feeling was even more magnified in late 70's London.

Just my two cents.

when i was a kid, my grandpa's german shepherd ate a whole box of bugles while everyone was asleep. we woke up the next morning to multiple piles of bugles vomit. that's what i think of whenever i see bugles. now, maybe you will too. by the way, grape and strawberry big league chew are incredible.

while we're talking gum, i think wrigley's spearmint might be my favorite flavor of all time. too bad they changed the packaging. wrigley's was one of the last companies to have their old look. nabisco mallomars still look good. i haven't had a good bubble gum in a while. all of the new flavors are so sour that i swallow them. i think my brain gets tricked into thinking it's taffy.

mmmmm, gum. i think my favorite gum would be extra polar ice. it just never loses it's flavor, i swear it's straight out of willy's factory. bubble gum wise, i think carefree sugarless gets my vote. it tastes extra rubbery, and i like that. bubble tape is fun to play with. one time i fit about 3/4 of the pack into my mouth at once. it looked like a small brain when i was done.

I love bubalicious because there are so many good flavors and the pieces come big (I can't stand Trident since they are so small, I have to eat like 5 pieces at a time.) and makes it very easy to blow bubbles. For chewing gum I love the cinnimon ones like Big Red. Do y'all remember Fruitaburst? It was so fruity and never lost flavor but I haven't seen it in a while.

Wrigley's Spearmint: best overall chewing gum of all time.

But lately, I've been more into Extra Spearmint. It doesn't taste quite as good as Wrigley's, but it lasts a lot longer.

These new "extreme" mint flavored mints/gums/stamps-of-acid are lost on me. I just don't want something that strong.

Ray- FreshenUp reminds me of this kind of gum that existed back in the 80s that had syrup in the middle. There were, like, Coca-Cola and Root Beer flavors.

Bubble Wrap - I luv it. Holding a piece of it in one hand and popping it, bubble-by-bubble, is so theraputic for me. I revealed my love to my co-workers, and now they are always giving me bubble wrap to pop at work.

the german shepherd died years ago. poncho looks like a cross between every little dog that's mean(except a pomeranian). he closely resembles a chihuahua on peyote. poncho doesn't like kids, jerky movements, strange noises, or music.

i can't roll my R's. i can do a very very slight "ruffles have ridges" but the R-rolling only lasts a split second.

when i went to type "roll" i actually typed "rollum" and i had to go back and erase the -UM.

I cannot roll my Rs either. It usually just ends up sounding like an 'l' and then I proceed to spit and babble. I do that for a lot of other stuff too, but it's more prominent when I try to roll the ol' Rs.

Well now I'm totally lost. The person I had a faint inkling it could be has been eliminated. So I guess not. If you'd like to tell me I'm all for secrets!!!

I would've said hi, but I wasn't 100% sure it was you, since you had said before you worked at Ted's. My guess was you were playing some mean solitaire, or on this board. You were quite interested in the computer.
nardwuar is an old friend of mine. he used to work at a radiostation back in the day, did alot of interviews. he hung out with k & c, though courtney hated him the first time she met him.
anyway, you two basically did the same stuff around the same time so i thought you might've known him.

oh and job a. is ted's
job b. is the black martini place
and i was on this message board!
she's just another ho that i met in the hood

Oooooookay. After looking at his site, I've heard of the guy. Don't know him personally, though. You have to realize that I was the alt rock director at my college radio station in the Quad Cities, and all of 21. We used to get a lot of shows because we were 2 hours from Chicago, so a band would schedule two days at, say, the Metro or Double Door, and play the Quads on a Thursday night, as a warm up. Since we were a CMJ station, we would get passes to all the shows, because at that time, we had more "cred" than the corporate stations (I had Nirvana, Pearl Jam & The Pumpkins all running as CMJ Hot Picks at a minimum two months before the rock stations in the market would even give them a spin. [not that I'm some genius, it was a no brainer for our format. It was just the radio climate at the time])

So essentially, all these bands would spend the night in the Quad Cities, and since I was around their age and semi-literate in the scene, they'd always want me to take them somewhere, or we'd just hang at the hotel or something. I never really knew why this was until I went on the road with the Features. Being in a bus or sharing a floor with the same four guys 24 hours a day makes you long for outside contact, and we were only gone 2 weeks!!!

I was just very, very lucky, geographically and socially to be in the right place at the right time. Pat S. was the only person I ever traded e-mail's with (and I honestly think the only reason that was, was because I was such a huge Germs fan, and he couldn't believe that I would even know of them) and that led to K and C's screennames. The only other person who may remember me at all would be James Iha. We had some fun nights. I met him on the Gish Tour, he remembered me the next time thru on the Siamese Dream Tour, and my now wife and I were his guests for Mellon Collie. While I have met and hung with a metric shit ton of rock bands, I must bow down to you, Sina and the relationships you've formed. Most impressive.
