BrianW plans to be there, as well as the super-sexy Vickie (who reads, but is too cool to post on this messageboard).

so this show was good. i was a little disappointed that we only got about 3 1/2 songs out of forget cassettes (only 2 of which were from the cd). hopefully i will get to enjoy a longer set at their show at the end on the 23rd. but i thought they did good nonetheless. imaginary baseball league was very enjoyable. i finally got their ep and am listening to it right now actually...very good. i really would've stayed for airline had it not been so oppressively hot in that joint. i feel bad for leaving.
how was everyone else's time?

I think that Forget Cassettes ended up being as good as they have been cracked up to be (to sound testosterony, the "Whole Lotta Love" cover was the hottest thing I've seen in a while). I will probably go see them when they play next. IBL gets better every time that I see them, and it was nice to be able to be able to focus on them instead of thinking "Wow they're really good...but the Features are coming on next." They are definitely growing on me from being a band that I like to see open for the Features to a band that I would just like to see anywhere. Good show.

The show was enjoyable. I felt like the poo the entire time because my nose is about to fall off due to my cold/allergies. But, the show was good. I enjoyed Imaginary Baseball League a lot, as usual. I can do without Forget Cassettes. They just don't impress me like they do everybody else. I also felt kind of bad about leaving before Airline, but I don't like them, and it was hot.

But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

I had a great time at the show, but I must say it was oppresively hot. Blue Sky Court leaves MUCH to be desired (no A/C, poor sound, lack of parking, lame-ass disco ball...). On the other hand, getting to chill outside with a beer is a luxury not often enjoyed at rock n roll clubs.

Forget Cassettes played a painfully short set, but managed to pour it all out in a short 30 minutes. Yes, Digsy, the Zep cover was pretty unbelievable. I think that's the 4th time I've seen them do it. As much as I like it, I thought at one point that it was going to be a rare treat and not a staple. I think it would be sweet if they played a rotating collection of covers during that point in much the same way Pearl Jam does with Daughter (to use an uncool, much less indie-rock example).

Imaginary Baseball League was great as always. I missed getting to hear "From Arkansas with Love", but it was still a solid set. While I still haven't met Keith, I got to talk at length with Ryan and a little bit with Ben. Great guys.

I used Aireline's set as an opportunity to chat outside with Sina, Peacefrog and BrianW. Good times. It was great to finally meet and talk to Foldsfan as well.

In regards to the show...

Imaginary Baseball League was great...again. I will echo Digsy's comment about them being a band that I will now see anytime that they play a local show.

Forget Cassettes, I am sorry to report, are growing old with me. I have seen them four times now and am starting to grow bored my their shows. As one unnamed member of our board pointed out, "It's like a thirty minute drum solo." All of their songs start sounding the same to me after the first one. It's a shame, because I really liked them the first time that I saw them. I guess you can only get so much out of the same guitar, drums, and Rhodes. Maybe if some of the songs had a different tuning or something, then I could like them more. But these days, they aren't as appealing to me.

And finally, I didn't stay for Aireline. Did anyone? I have this mental image of them playing to an empty venue.

No, they had the best crowd of the night by far. I think a lot of lurkers came forward when they started. It was their CD release show, after all, so it only makes sense that they draw the largest crowd. This, despite the fact that both opening bands were better and more interesting (in my humble opinion).

FC- I'm not ahsamed, my ears process the show like a pretty good drum solo with female vox and guitar accompaniment. Three songs may be all I can handle from them. I did hear that when Beth played with Leah(?) and sans Doni, that it was a lot more musical. Doni is a good drummer who knows it and isn't afraid to be the center of everyone's attention. (I think tall, lanky drummers look the coolest.)

IBL- I sure do love me some IBL. They are much more tasteful than people give them credit for, and everyone in the band is so nice. The bass player's rig cut out on him, he turned around, fixed it, and came in the next phrase. he didn't stumble through and try to catch up. ryan's floor tom fell and almost no one noticed. Champs.

A- whatever. Very serious music that seriously gets tiresome after four or five songs. But I do enjoy those four or five songs.

It was good to meet you Carligula, I was sad that our conversation had to end, I really was into what you had to say, so much that I kind of neglected to introduce myself to Sina when she came up behind you, that and I'm not good at meeting new people. But I did finally meet you when you were toaling to...someone and I interrupted you guys. It was good to finally meet you. I believe when I first joined the board I referred to you as "the girl with the red coat and pretty hair" from the 12th and Porter show.
Also good to see DickardD there. Sorry it took so long to respond. I've been sick and tired, but I had things to say.
