That sounds like a good idea to me!

I've been dreading valentines day since after christmas because they start putting all the valentines stuff on displays in stores so early!

Valentine's Day sucks and I have no clue what I will be doing on Friday. We've already watched the MJ Special, so there goes our original plans...I guess I can just go see "Daredevil"...by myself.... ph34r.gif ....

Daredevil showings are probably going to have a lot of solo men in attendance, especially on valentine's day.

I'm not into Hello Kitty, but I like some of the other Sanrio characters (esp. one called Tare Panda. I have a Tare Panda shower curtain). I also liked that monkey that was out about 10 years ago.
The highlight of my Hickory Hollow Mall shopping experience as a kid would be a stop in the Sanrio store. I was a stationery buff, plus it was pretty inexpensive. And the characters are just so cute.

On a semi-related note: after cleaning out my desk, I discovered I have way too many stickers for a 25-year-old. But for some reason, I can't throw them away. I'm not really a pack rat, just a girl who finds it hard to throw out winnie-the-pooh stickers. Help me.

Monkichi...and i can't decide if i'm proud or embarrassed to know that. i loved me any sanrio character. i went through many sanrio phases including keroppi, badtz-maru, chococat, and little twin stars...hello kitty was just the one that stuck.

Oh, good! I'll have something to do.

I didn't realize how far back the little, pre-printed Valentine cards that you give out in school went back until this weekend. I was at my parents' house, looking through a box of my stuff my dad rescued from my grandmother's decaying house. Apparently, my grandparents used to distribute those cards when they were in school in the early 1930's. If properly stored, they can be preserved for a long time. So be careful what you write on those... they may stick around for a while.

Wow, that's really cool! I love the way cards, postcards, etc look from "the olden days"--much more intricate and pretty. I've been tempted to buy some old postcards from antique stores, but they're way too expensive.

Man, I keep on going back and forth on what i want to do for V-day, since I'm single I was like maybe I should go out, and then on the other hand I'm thinking since I'm single maybe I show just go rent a few DVD's and eat ice cream and sulk... sad.gif I'm so tired of V-day, It;s not a happy holiday for me, the only attention I receive is from my niece who passes out cards every year, adn fro my step father... I think it's a sweet gesture from him, but it also makes me feel sorta..uhh pathetic as well.

In past years I have held "Loser Fest," a grand festival for single people only. It usually consits of hanging out at coffee shops or friends' houses playing Trivial Persuit or Nintendo.

I like that idea!!! the bad thing is, all my friends, but one, have a "special someone" so we can't throw too much of a party. i can't begin to describe how being the only single person in an entire group of couples feels.. although the term projectile vomiting comes to mind. i usually try to work on v-day, but now that i'm an unemployed loser i think i'm just gonna wear all black and maybe not shower that day... yes, i know , thats very gross, but its for a good cause.

Jonathan Silverman had that problem in his mid-90s sitcom "the Single Guy."

Very interesting...

thats a bummer, man. being around tons of couples when you're single really sucks. being around one couple when you're single really sucks, for that matter.

I've been offered to tag along with two separate couples on friday, no who in there right mind would do that? that's just pure stupidity if someone did that... That's just a courtesy invite.

Dude If I was with someone and one of my firends tagged along on anyday I want to spend just with my BF that would just be too awkward... dry.gif

That's better than having your friends try to set you up with a mentally handicapped guy. I saw that in a movie once. (And YaDaDaDa promises to make it a reality in my life.)

I also just found out this fact about Viggo Mortensen (does anyone else have a strange addiction to the "trivia" sections of Internet Movie Database?)...on a related X note, John Doe is playing Exit/In on March 12th, which seems to be the big night for shows in the Southwest region. I hear he's gone folkie.

Similar to the Valentine's Day depression, last year a bunch of the geeks at my school held an "anti-prom" to say "we don't need to go to prom", but they really just couldn't get dates. From what I heard, about 20 people showed up at the local comic store and played Magic the Gathering all night. It was pathetic.

Aside from the Magic (which is the geek-equivalent of crack), that sounded like a fun nite to me...hey, anything involving Cerebro and a Bantha sounds like fun to me! biggrin.gif dry.gif unsure.gif

Yes, they had one Hello Kitty that was dressed as a tiger and one as a koala bear. I wanted the koala. It was so cute. If I weren't so cheap, I would have spent the eleven or twelve dollars and bought one.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?
