Mixes I have made in the past.

"The Saddest Fucking Songs In The Whole Wide World"

"The Scintilating Sex'n Mix, Volume 1"

and

"Here's a history of our entire relationship (you don't speak to me anymore)"

I'll have to find copies of said mixes to give tracklistings, the 1st and 3rd were extremely cathartic, and I've tried to block them from my memory since listening to them for 2 weeks straight.

let's get married
You mentioned mine.

We decided to give out a mix CD as a favor for our wedding. I sat and burned 100 copies of it last week. It's short, and we had to keep it very simple for all the older/conservative crowd that will be at the wedding.

I think it'll be good.

With all due respect and sensitivity, I think that making a funeral mix CD would be a very interesting endeavor and could be very cathartic.

you're right, but don't worry about the respect and sensitivity, 'tis for my funeral, not a loved one's.

Oh in that case, yeah it would be really cool to put together a sequence of songs about death and dying, especially if it was for yourself.

What sort of songs were on it?

i'd have to pull out my notebook to know an entire list, but off the top of my head:

Dry the Rain -- Beta Band
a couple Portishead songs
a couple Radiohead songs
a couple Counting Crows songs
I think Air might be on it...
God Called in Sick Today by AFI is also on it.

mainly it's just some really mellow and sometimes weepy stuff. it's calming.

During my senior year of high school I was going to go on the spring break trip to London. Then the darn terrorists had to blow up our buildings and the trip was canned. I had a mix cd in the works that featured all songs about London and only British artists. It was heavy on Oasis and, of course, had "London Calling" on it.

I also made mix CDs of all the songs that were 'popular' for the last three years of my high school experience. I put 'popular' in quotes because these are the singles that my favorite bands released at the time and most of them didn't really become hits. My favorite one had to be my senior year CD that featured one CD of serious songs ("Last Nite" "Hate To Say I Told You So" "Fell In Love With A Girl" Tenacious D "Trouble"...man I'm young compared to everyone else except Rachel and FFF) and one full of ghetto songs (lots of Ludacris and Kia).

I have also made soundtracks for the comic book that I created and also one for the imaginary TV show in my head. Other than that, most of my mixes are just random and have no theme.

How do you feel about naming tapes? One friend made me one with the name "A Simple Design Error". We have since made fun of it.

I would like to make a tape called "Songs you dance to when you're alone". I'm sure that we'll make fun of this one as well.

i always start out doing themes when i burn cds (really vauge ones like mellow mix, sleep mix, dance mix, car mix) but then have too much trouble and always end up with really random, poorly put together cds. i just got all my songs ready for a summer mix. if only my stupid burner would work..
