TOPIC: Highlights

I took exliontamer to the dentist today & we read Highlights in the waiting room. The thing hasn't changed in 20 years...Goofus is still acting a fool & Gallant is still sucks-up to all authority figures ("Gallant doesn't spread rumors"). They still have that "find the hidden pictures" page & silly jokes. Here's one:
Why did the duck cross the road? The chicken retired and moved to Florida. <cackle>

Every time I go to the doctor's office, I'm faced with Highlights, Seventeen, and Time. I go with Highlights every time....followed by Seventeen. I also liked the crafts in the back where you could learn how to make a telephone out of a styrofoam cup and an old dirty toilet paper roll. Very cool.

why is it that those things are only in the doctor's or dentist's office? if i do by some freak chance see one outside one of the priorly mentioned locations, my teeth start to hurt just by association.

Hmm, is exliontamer still going to a children's dentist by chance? I thought all adult dentists just had Playboys and stuff. Maybe that's just mine. No, maybe that's actually a dentist I saw on TV.

I go with Seventeen, and i laugh at the letters to the editor......."my crush gave me a piggy back ride, it was totally awesome....but then i saw him talkling to another girl, i got so scared that he like Linda instead of me...was it the new shade of sparkly blush that i was wearing that made him stop liking me?"

it's all too much.....

You may have been in a medical-looking facility, but I don't think it was the dentist office.

i think the "embarassing moment things" are a staple for any teenage magazine. it is also required that within these articles the phrase "i was mortified!" must be used at least twelve times.

I think they like to throw the word mortified in for all of the little 14 year old girls.. ya know just so they can have a new word of the month to play with.

The "playboys in a dentist office" was a Seinfeld episode. During the ep, Jerry goes under the gas, the last thing he sees being the dentist and his busty assistant making eyes at each other. He wakes up to blurrily see them buttoning their shirts and he thinks that his shirt was been tampered with. Pretty funny episode,of course 90% of them are funny...

I immediately thought of the Seinfeld ep,but I figured someone else would have pointed it out by now. The episode is "The Jimmy" from the 6th season, which aired in 1995. The episode also features Kramer being mistaken for a retard by Mel Torme because of his fancy shoes and novacained mouth, as well as Jimmy, the guy who speaks in third person. Dang...that is one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes.

That leads up to the funniest damn ending I've seen in any show. The look on Kramer's face is just priceless as Torme sings to him.
