TOPIC: How Do I Change My Avatar Caption?
Posted  Monday, October 14, 2002 at 5:01 PM
Post 1 of 12
Okay, I now have 150 posts (well, I guess this makes 151), yet I still can't figure out how to change the caption below my avatar. Yes, I know how to get to the control panel and edit profile and all that stuff, but I guess I'm just missing it. Any help would be appreciated...

Under profile on your control panel, the caption is called your custom member title.

HOw do I get an avatar? Do I have to post one on web space of my own somewhere? Or can I upload one? I don't want to use the stock ones, I am more original than that.

In my (weird) case, I just go to google, type in what I want my avatar to be (Charles Nelson Reilly, Richard Dawson, Han Solo, etc). After the search completes, I go to the image results, find the squarest picture, open it up, right-click, go to properties, copy the URL and then paste it where the avatar address goes.

I size mine using some image editing program and then upload it to the site here.

I have a crack team of trained monkeys that continually manipulate pixels to keep my pool of rotating avatars fully stocked.

In my case I have a huge illustrator file of the Features head that I import to photoshop, choose a square portion of, and resize to 64x64. I then upload this to my school web space and link it to there. I've got three different angles as yet.

More work than most want, but it works.
