TOPIC: I am an ant
Posted  Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 3:40 PM
Post 1 of 30
My nephew was born Monday morning at 3:39 ... 7 lbs 11 oz ... Last time I checked his name is Elliott Moon. But my sister & her husband could've changed their minds before they left the hospital this morning. He is the cutest little guy in the whole world and I am completely enamored of him. (i'll try to figure out how to post a picture later, when I'm not at work).

My family got to be in the room during the entire delivery & it was one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced in my life.

Congrats! Babies are so cute.
Plus, you get to be the "cool aunt" that everyone has. Pretty sweet job.

On a related note, Tom Foolery is the greatest uncle that any kid could ever hope to have.

He'll deny it, though.

Make sure you're the cool aunt that shows him all the nicities in life that his parents might shelter him from. Like my aunt who took me to pizza parlors and video arcades, playing me Zeppelin while my parents were keeping me on a strict Sesame Street / Beatles regemin.

Which isn't to say that Sesame Street and The Beatles weren't important parts of my growing up; where would I be without them? But every child needs to walk the wild side too.

Anyhow, congrats!

aunt courtney (my pierced and tattooed emo little sister) gets to watch elliott on mondays (after carrie goes back to work) so i'm sure she'll have some sort of "cool aunt influence" on him. before he was born, court purchased baby black hightop converse and a black hooded sweatshirt with a "punk" patch for the baby. egads! anyway, i'm sure me & uncle exliontamer will influence elliott in a different sort of way.

Birth rocks.
Indeed it does, Lauren. Indeed it does. How poignant.

Congratulations, Smee. I'm sure you'll be just the best aunt.

well, if that is true than tom foolery and smee will have to get married to form the greatest aunt/uncle duo in history. sorry to spring this on everyone (especially exliontamer), but there really is no other way.
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

Add a flowing amne to that kid and it looks just like Grandpa!!!!

My friend has a theory that newborns look like ex-world leaders. I think we got ourselves a WInston Churchill

Congratulations. smile.gif

This is weird because I had a dream last night that my brother and sister-in-law had a new baby. They came to my parents' house for a visit and the baby was literally less than 2 inches tall, and she was conveniently sitting in a little ceramic basket. She was very ugly as well. I didn't want to hold her for fear that I would break her due to her tiny-ness. blink.gif

But, yeah, congratulations on your new nephew. Elliott is one of my favorite boy names. biggrin.gif
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?
