TOPIC: i had a bad night
Posted  Sunday, June 1, 2003 at 1:47 AM
Post 1 of 31
this was inspired by the first jobs thread.
sometimes, it gets difficult to really bitch about things . . .
so i think we should all bitch to one another. so i will say that my night was terrible. my manager is a 500 pound black guy and he hates me. he treats me and other womyn completely unfairly; he changes/ bends the rules for people (guys) he likes.
he sits on his ass and does nothing; when we ask for help, he says, "why do you need help dog? can you not handle the job dog?"

whew, i feel better. anyway, venting done here . . .
thank you for being a friend.

who needs a psychiatrist.. you can vent here right? glad the venting helped. hope you find ways to tune out your boss (maybe one day you can seek revenge!).

actually, tonite was my first good night in a few. ive been really like.. hermity. never leaving my house. and i havent been sad but ive been really like mellow and no fun. then i realized it was all the music i was listening to that was bringing me down so i switched it out and yay problem solved. its funny how much music affects my mood.

Stalker, talk to Token and then to your manager's superior. She had a similar manager and got him fired. (Story coming, but I'll let her tell it if she wants to)

The short version is that we had a really, really lazy-ass manager at a hotel restaurant at which I worked. It pissed me and the other supervisor off because he earned like 50K a year and such. So we talked about it, typed up our complaints, and met with both the Food & Beverage Director and the General Manager of the hotel. He was gone within the week. We were pretty impressed with ourselves.

I don't know if this will work in your situation.

wow, its good to know that im not alone. the other managers know he doesn't do shit, but the owner just got put into rehab or something so i don't know if anyone can actually get fired...

The first sentence makes me think that this guy would be hard to fire.

The second gives me hope that he could be.

The fact that he calls people "dog" makes me think of that judge Randy (I think that's his name) off American Idol.

Some of my students call me "boss" "cuz" or "kinfolk" from time to time and it really pisses me off.

Yeah, my whole week has been mighty sucky. One day, I felt very uncomfortable when one old man came to my place of work and mentioned my "figure". Then, yesterday, this guy who was about thirty years younger than the first man asked me my name, if I knew where THE PROJECTS are so that I could find his house where he was having A COOK OUT, if I had a boyfriend, and if he could have my number. I was frightened. And, he was coming into my place of work to fill out an application. But, you know, other than the sexual herassment-type issues, it's been okay. dry.gif blink.gif

Sorry about the creeps. I don't think I ever get eye-raped as much as I do at DitD. There are so many shady guys there.. they scare me.

If we are gonna vent then I would like to vent about how I'm taking Driver's Ed all next week and how much it will SUCK! I've been going to sleep at 4 but I have to wake up at 7 tommorrow. Then I actually have to GET DRESSED and no more Passions and moping around the house all day. I'm looking forward to the end of the week when we get to go driving around for two hours, though. I burned myself a nice little Features/Car mix that I will force the guy to listen to. If you faintly hear "Circus" playing and see a Student Driver car you might want to stay away.

The day after I get my permit I have to help drive to Florida. I am so freakin scared. unsure.gif

I've heard of similar problems.

1. A family member of mine had a problem with her boss. He asked her who she was sleeping with, and went to great lengths to keep her away from the guy he thought she might be sleeping with (which wasn't true, but that's irrelevent). Anyway, he started following her around. Needless to say, she was freaked, complained to the higher-ups and now has a new boss.

2. This guy I work with got fired from a restaurant in Knoxville. He said they discriminated against him somehow (he's black). He won a law suit and now the restaurant chain has to send him like several thousand dollars every month. He bought a new car.

My advice to you.. keep a record of inappropriate happenings. Write down the differences he makes between employees.. write dates, exact words, etc.. carry a tape recorder if necessary. Then if you don't feel like reporting him to the company... at least you can blackmail him!!!

my night sucked as well. Flew from Nashville to Richmond Va. and I absolutely hate flying more than anything in the entire world. So this time I took some medicine to knock me out. Well, it did it's job and now I don't know where my wallet is. I was so dead to the world someone could have told me they were stealing my wallet and I still wouldn't have cared/remembered.

lol... not sure. something the dr. gave me... starts w/ an "X" if that helps. I love aventure and I love being scared to death, but I had a really bad flight the first time I flew - we hit a microburst or something and I've been terrified ever since. I thought I'd get over it the more I flew but it just got worse and worse. the moral of this story, if there is one, is that if you can't face your fears and overcome them... you can always take some meds to make them go away???

alright,so what if this makes me sound like A.) a druggie B.) a wuss. Who cares? We're all one big happy messageboard family right?

So, are you by any chance a stripper? I just imagine that your boss forces you to give longer lap dances to "preferred" customers. By treating the ladies unfairly, he has certain benefits? The descripton of this guy wreaks of any strip club that I've ever seen. Anyway, just a mental image from the story.

Even with all of the sexual harrassment, you still get first dibs on the cool stuff at Goodwill. It seems like a decent give and take. That is, until you get stalked. And, if you need help, I know where the projects are located. Mitch and I could get you through them with relative ease, as well as some friendly encounters with former classmates and/or convicts and/or both.

Don't worry. You can't be as bad as my mom was. She "bumped" a pedestrian on her driving test...and still got her license.

I had a really bad night on Thursday. My boyfriend of 3 years and I are no longer together. It is pretty hard to take.

I am glad my friends (some of them here) were there for me in a big way.

Thanks to those who have made this easier to take - I love you guys.

yes, it's very hard to see your future together go up in a puff of smoke. We also had been living together for 2 of those years and worked really hard to make our place a home for us. Now on top of the breakup, I am uprooted to a home that's not really my home.

Let this be a lesson - don't move in until you at least have a wedding date set. Separating all your stuff is really horrible.
