if you had to pick one, just one, seriously. no, debating and honorable mentions, who is your favorite (not the BEST) but yr personal favorite band of ALL TIME.
let's not include the features in this one, bc they would be in probably all of our top 3 - 5.

band does not equal solo artist.
they are different, because of musical collaberations, solo work, aspects qualifications, etc.

this is already giving me a headahce trying to think of one . . . let me get back to you. smile.gif

I guess I will go with the White Stripes. I know that they aren't the best ever but they are my personal favorite band right now. I don't have a favorite EVER.. thats too hard and I'm too young. I actually have so many bands right now that I like more then the White Stripes but its just that I haven't heard enough of thier stuff to feel qualified to list them as my favorite. Plus, I tend to favor solo artists. Sigh.. give me five years. I'll have a good answer in five years.

its ok dude, solo artists are different. i favor them too. and the white stripes are actually in my candidates. *still undecided*
and dont' worry about being young, man. i wasn't alive for *led zeppelin's prime time, but i still dig it to no end. also in my candidates*

goddammit this is too hard.
hence the editing.

im going to have to be loyal to

THE COUNTING CROWS

i know, this is shocking, i didn't say the best, but the personal fave.

there. set in stone . . .

until my next edit. smile.gif

FLUID OUNCES

I think their newest, forthcoming album is my favorite to date.

Boring, I know. Pearl Jam is also one of the greatest bands of our time.

good call on that one deathscythe, but i'm pretty sure Satanica was a solo project save for a few impromptu basement shows...

Most of these were pretty predictable. I guessed several of your picks correctly and I knew who wouldn't be able to decide. Stalker's suprised me most only because I had never heard her say anything about the Counting Crows.

the smashing pumpkins for me. It's kinda hard to choose... but I will always love them even though I don't listen to them as much anymore.

I have to combine skill, impact on music history, and my own private obsession. so this seems like a strange pick, but i'd have to say The Smiths. I feel like they're responsible for all the cool stuff i'm into now. they led me down the right path, and i loved them from the very first song. And I'm probably more familiar with their work than anyone else's.
Why would you do that?

Led Zeppelin. They're the only hold-over from my "classic rock" days of high school. They have a ridiculous amount of albums that I can listen to all the way through, which includes Presence. As soon as I grow tired of one album, there are many others to choose from. Granted, I don't listen to them as much as I used to, but I wouldn't feel bad at all if I were forced to listen to them all of the time. Their music spans enough emotions through sound and tempo that I can listen to them at any time. I am excited about their new Live double-CD with concert material from '78 (I think that year is correct). Anyway, that's my pick.
