I'd pay up to US$2.50 for a Klondike bar.

My favorite ice cream treats are Choco Tacos, Nutty Buddies, pretty much anything by Ben&Jerry's (esp. Chunky Monkey, Cherry Garcia, and all of the popcicles), and Jello Pudding Pops (where did they go?).

Sales plummetted when Bill Cosy stopped doing their ads.

Though a joke, it wouldn't surprise me if this were true.

Ahh Klondike bars. I would pay up to 5 dollars for one if I they were in a limited supply.

Jamiecarroll...you rule me! Jello Pudding Pops were awesome, especially the vanilla/chocolate swirl ones. I will have to check with my manager to see if they are even still available. If they are, I could get them for some people and transport them to Nashville in a cooler! I am such a grocery store geek, and the funny part is that I hate that place. Ah well. I will get back to you all with Pudding pop news.

I also am a grocery store employee, though it sounds like you are alot higher on the ladder than me. I often think that I am too obsessive/compulsive to function properly as a grocery store employee. I am an absolute freak when it comes to facing. "Face the dairy, Jamie." my boss will say. Two hours later I return to him after having pulled every single piece of stock as close to the front of the shelf as is physically possible and having arranged everything just so, like we were about to film a damn commercial. I could do nothing but face the store all day; I love it.

I like premium ice cream desserts and stuff... but I don't know if I'd be willing to trade my dignity for one. Who am I kidding?!? Of course I would! I would murder Bill Cosby by forcing him to listen to Creed while contracting herpes from an infected monkey in exchange for one sweet, delicious Klondike bar.

Choco Tacos are OK... but they get bonus points for having a really funny (and vaguely sexual) name. My favorite ice cream is probably Ben & Jerry's Phish Food. (How a jam band can inspire such a wonderful product is beyond me.) I also like Rocky Road milkshakes because they always have that wonderful nutty sludge at the bottom of them.

Sounds like punishment, is dairy in the corner? Even funnier would be if your boss actaully called you Jamie. You should have a nametag made that says "Ms. Carroll".

Bobbie's Dairy Dip is my new local Favorite, especially for large vanilla shakes, which are key in the summertime.

I am not that far up the ladder, jamiecarroll. I am in fact an office manager, so I am the one who tells one of the cashiers to face the high profits in the back. I am taking it that you are a stocker? My job is count lots and lots of money as well as help all the customers out (I can't stand some of them...). What store do you work for anyway?

I work for a smaller, locally owned store here in Nashville called the Belmont Bi-Rite (in the Belmont area). It's owned by Sidney Osborn, who is part of the Osborn grocery mafia here in Nashville. Okay, that's just a joke, but like 4 different people in the Osborn family own grocery stores here in town.
I am a utility player. Since I have worked off-and-on for this store since 1999, I know how to do pretty much everything there. So whatever they need me to do, I do - a little stocking, a little checking, a little produce, whatever. It's a good job because they are really flexible with hours and they will work around my schedule, and I don't have to wear a uniform.

No uniform? I am so jealous. I am going to move here and work with you.
Yeah, Food Lion is pretty flexible with my schedule too. It is the only place I have ever worked, so I have been there for about 3 years. They have been giving me shit lately though about all of my days I ask off to come here (Nashville...I am at Tom Foolery's), so I am thinking about making a little change of jobs soon. It's not that bad, but my boss is mega-bitch. Ah well. I will just drop school for a year, move to middle Tennessee, and attempt to get a job at Belmont Bi-Rite.
Do you ever shamelessly promote The Features or any other bands? I do that all the time to the customers. I have actually made CDs for some of the "regulars" who said they were interested.

I took Stephanie to Franklin's deluxe, ritz Food Lion last night (because that's where I take all the chicks). After hearing jamiecarroll talk about "facing," I made her demonstrate her facing skills on a high-profit shelf. I was very impressed with her talents and amazed that a whole "grocery store" culture existed without my knowledge. I'm now a better, more informed shopper.

Yes, we do, indeed, exist. As for my facing skills, thank you, thank you. I generally like doing that better than being up front if those are my options at the time. At least back there I get to think. As for doing it perfectly, jamiecarroll, I can be pretty anal about how well it is done, too.

Exactly. Though I do sometimes like to interact with customers (especially around Christmas, when everyone is in a good mood), working on the floor by myself lets me think endlessly. Facing is so mindless. So in a sense, much of the time, they do pay me to think.

grocery stores be damned! i got out before my head exloded. the only cool thing i ever did during my foodland era was hang out in the bar next door for a half hour while still on the clock. at the tender age of 15, this seemed pretty cool. otherwise, those were some of the worst days of my life.

What would i do for a klondike bar?

i'll tell you a joke from the artic, an icy island song to chill
your icy heart...

well, there's bi polar bears and there's bipolar bears.
one swings both ways and one swings from a rope.

i would also do the following for a klondike bar:

1.run eleven miles in the winter with a dum-dum in my mouth and scissors in my hands
2. i would shoot tequilla in my bloodstream with a turkey marinating syringe
3. why, i'd kick someone in the ear
4. i'd plant a row of watermelons, and when they were ripe, i'd pee on them and throw them at a bus of nuns.
5. i would buy an additional klondike bar at regular price. ph34r.gif

So, we started talking about ice cream about two years ago. Yeah, I know I'm taking it way back. Anyway, Pudding Pops were mentioned here, and I am pleased to tell you all that they have come back out! They are $2.69 for a box at Food Lion. I bought some the other night and fell in love all over again. Jamiecarroll, I am buying you some the next time I come to Nashville.

Oh, and please note damon's comment directly above. Hilarious.

I had one of the Shrek 2 Hot Sludge Sundae (or whatever it's called) from Baskin Robbins today. It was decent. There wasn't enough chocolate for my extreme tastes and I still don't think that gummy worms should be involved in anything ice cream related.

Ice cream rocks.

I wouldn't do very much for a klondike bar. I haven't had one in years, but from what I remember they're overrated.

I enjoy any ice cream that is black walnut or coffee flavored. I also enjoy butter pecan. I'm more of a vanilla ice cream kind of person than chocolate.

I used to get the "daiquiri ice" ice cream from Baskin Robbins all the time. It was very tastey.

I used to eat pudding pops all the time when I was little. I love them. I bought some of the new ones earlier this year, and I was not a fan.

Edy's Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookie ice cream is wonderful, and they make it light. Haagen Dazs makes the best sorbets, though at Whole Foods I recently discovered a small company called Seattle Sorbet that makes its sorbets out of coconut milk. Right now I'm rocking the soy ice cream. Soy Dream Mocha Almond Fudge rules.

Haagen Dazs makes the best sorbets, though at Whole Foods I recently discovered  a small company called Seattle Sorbet that makes its sorbets out of coconut milk. Right now I'm rocking the soy ice cream. Soy Dream Mocha Almond Fudge rules.
See, I was following you until you mentioned that about the soy ice cream. At that point you lost all credibility.

But seriously, Thin Mint ice cream sounds like an awesome idea. I might have to look into that.
I think you would love the Edy's Thin Mint. It is splendid.

Hey soy ice cream is actually good. I guess it's a personal thing. I have enough hormones floating around in my body. I don't need more from milk.

vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. If I feel like getting crazy, I'll eat chocolate chip ice cream; but for the most part, I just stick to vanilla.

any flavor gelato is better than any ice cream or sorbet; and this is coming from an ice cream addict.

top 3 gelato flavors:
1) lemon
2) tiramisu
3) stracciatella (chocolate chip)
oh the drudgery of being wet

I wish there were a way to bring the joy of pop-rocks and coke into a flavor of ice cream or possibly gelato.

pop rocks aside, i really like root beer blasts at sonic [root beer and softserve blended together]. always hits the spot.

Yes, we just had a cookout on Sunday. We didn't have any cheesecake, though. But we did make homemade ice cream. Mmmmmmm.
