And I forgot to say, that this is just more proof that the Tennessee Titans are the best run franchise in pro sports. The entire organization holds itself up to highest standard of class and integrity. ok maybe the owner is a little suspicious but the whole rest of this franchise is made up of nothing but good guys, from the front office to the coaches to the players. And I have no doubt that this family spirit is what drew little Gary out of retirement....again. I mean the guy is already a millionaire, enjoying life and his fishing business. Why the hell do you want to play football (let alone a high anxiety position) if you've got that kind of life? I honestly believe that Gary would have only done this for the Titans; we know that he turned down offers from other teams...

I heard Gary quoted as saying that "the Titans were the classiest team he ever worked for". (It may be in that link; I was too lazy to read it right now)

My wing of the Dahl House will definitely be the place for Titans football. Roadie and JC are most welcome to join us one of these Sundays.

Finally a thread where I know whats being discussed!!!

I too am thrilled about having Gary back on the team. As frusterated as I get with Fisher sometimes, heand his staff know how to run an organization, and this is just another example of that.

Unfortunately, Now is the time to cut Nedney. I like the guy a lot, but he's been injured what 3 of 5 years now?

Anderson couldn't be back at a better time with the colts up next. I'm still debating on whether or not I wanna shell out the $$$ to see a repeat of the last titans/colts game.

By the way, anyone ever notice how much Anderson looks like one of those bobbleheads?

It ain't gonna be no repeat. As long as we don't have Eddie Berlin returning kicks, we'll be alright.

My boy Tyrone's going to be back, too.

Well, it appears that my boy Tyrone will NOT in fact be back for the Colts game. That sucks because that makes Eddie Berlin the #3 receiver, and he suuuuuuucks. I think it totally changes the game when we don't have a third receiver that the defense has to respect. Oh well, at least the Colts secondary is banged up.

I mean, say what you will about Eddie George, at least you could always count on him on 3rd & 1. I like C. Brown and all, but he was 0-for-3 today on 3rd and short, and that's just not acceptable.

I knew when the Colts were still in it at halftime that we were fucked. We should've put them away early when we had the chance.

Yep. We were up 23-10 in the 4th quarter...and not one Vandy fan (or Vandy player, I'm sure) doubted that we would find a way to lose. And sure enough, we did. It's going to be a long season, Andrew. When does basketball start?

yeah...that's the sad thing. i knew it was over when cutler threw that home run ball INT on first down, and we were still up ten points. i looked at my dad when it happened, i could tell we were both sure. i had just been asking myself, "what could they do here to completely fuck this up?" and no sooner than i had thought of that, we "try to win the football game". that's the spin bobby j. tried to put on it, but i'm not interested in that stuff he says anymore. c'mon guys--you're vanderbilt...you've got the game in hand, on the road in the sec. SIT ON IT! HOLD ON FOR DEAR LIFE!

i do feel that ole miss may have benefited from a few bad calls and definitely one particular no-call. but those are the way things go when you're vandy...sickening in every way.

I spent alot of time today watching him between plays, and during downtime, and I noticed that he seems to have an incredibly good-natured relationship with the officials. He spends alot of time just chatting and laughing with them during TV timeouts and whatnot. The way he was interacting with them is in stark contrast to how alot of players treat refs these days. And you know what? Whether or not anyone would admit it, I think he probably gets more calls because of it.

Bottom line: I think he's smart for it.

You're probably right. You'd never guess it by looking at him, but he's most likely the most intelligent QB in the NFL. They certainly got a call or two today.

As for the laughing and smiling, he was winning today. When he's losing he likes to pout. And NOTHING is more obnoxious looking than the "Peyton Pout".

Speaking of laughing and smiling, it pisses me off to no end when McNair sits there during/after a huge loss and jokes around with everyone. I know he wants to win just as much as the next guy, but he does it all the time.

Man, that was sweet. The Titans can suck it. You know you have problems on defense when any team can run the exact same play 5 or 6 times in a row and complete it or draw a penalty. I am referring to the play-action passes to Reggie Wayne on the post route against Andre Dyson in the 4th quarter. You'd think they would stop triple-teaming Marvin Harrison and put a safety back there on Reggie after the 3rd or 4th time, but no....too much respect for Marvin. See you in December, bitches.

I'm sorry, I can't blame Brown for one of the worst play calls by this staff in years on that 4th down and inches play. You don't do a long handoff like that. I even think they pulled guards on that play. Brown could never pick a whole to run to because he was already getting tackled. I believe the Tennessean scored the coaching in this game properly by giving it an F.

This team has a lot of problems, but Brown isn't one of them. And neither is McNair. Sadly the same problems that have existed on the defense have been there now for several years in a row.

Exactly, Carl. I mean, I didn't realize a running back that wore a Titans uniform was allow to run full speed through holes, break tackles and actually score long touchdowns. I thought it was some rule that Fisher made up or something that this sort of thing couldn't happen. Nice to see the old style of running, constantly run into the backs of his lineman and tripping and falling, has found itself (albeit with less and less carries) a home in Dallas now.

Look, I appreciate C. Brown. He's obviously alot quicker than Eddie - my little sister who doesn't know the first thing about football immediately noticed that.

And yes, it was a bad play call on the 4th & Inches. But you cannot deny that in that game, when it was 3rd or 4th & <1, Brown was worthless. He could not gain one yard. He was literally 0-for-3. And that's a problem. And don't tell me that the line was stacked or they had 8 guys in the box or whatever. On 3rd & 1, the line will always be stacked, and you HAVE to be able to hand the ball off and gain a yard. To win in the NFL, you HAVE to have a guy who can do that. Now maybe Brown will be that guy, or maybe it'll be Smith, or maybe it'll be nobody.

Again, say what you want about Eddie and how slow he was, but I wasn't nervous when they handed it to him on 3rd & 1.

Point taken. We'll just have to see how this shapes up as the season goes on.

True. I'm curious to see how our offense performs today against JAX and their supposedly incredible defense.

JAX 15
TEN 12

I actually wanted the Titans to win this one because I didnt want the Jags to go 3-0. Looks like penalties were a pretty big factor in this one too.

Yea, today's game sucked big time. Very happy I decided to watch on t.v. I know injuries are killing us, but the Titans looked terrible out there. Whats with the "MVP" ? He bruised his sternum on a freaking football today.

A pattern is developing. The Titans do well early on both sides of the ball, but don't score enough. Late in the 2nd half, their defense tires, or does something to do away with all the good things they did before, and begin giving up drives and thus points. Titans find themselves down and incapable of coming back.

I'm sure he was. Too bad none of those fireworks have ever gotten the Colts to a Super Bowl.
