TOPIC: Live Recordings

I dunno how feasible or important this is to anyone, but I was wondering if we could somehow compile a list of live shows recorded by message board members (or anyone) with setlists included. I'm trying to find copies of the shows I actually attended (before I started recording myself), and it could be cool to have a "showography" or something. Also, maybe whoever has recorded shows that included rare or new songs (like situation gone bad or the new harold or growing old) could upload them on the mp3 site.

It could be potentially possible to have recordings of most if not all of the features shows ever, and even though it would be ultra geeky, it would also be kinda cool.

Incidentally, the shows I've been to are:

8.30.02 Blue Cats, Knoxville
10.18.02 The Attic, Chattanooga
10.24.02 Fairbanks, Knoxville
11.16.02 The Attic, Chattanooga
3.8.03 Blue Cats, Knoxville
3.28.03 Vanderbilt University

If anyone has copies of any of these, PM me.

I'd love to have a copy of the Boro show from Jan 10, 2002. Cause that was the first Features show I went to and I didn't know a single song but I loved it.

I've thought about trying to compile somewhere on the internet a live history of the Features. As mega fans, many of us document the shows we've seen, but I doubt we could create a comprehensive list since most of us weren't fans before 99. Bootlegs before then are very scarce.

I'm a lazy trader, and I do know that there are not many old Features bootlegs. I have a feeling that there's very little in the bootleg world for the Features not recorded by me, blightman, or richarddawson. Some fans, like holeypea, might have some that no one else has.

I also know that those who have rare stuff tend to keep it rare.

I've thought it would be neat to have a complete list of all the Features shows that have been recorded. However, I've been afraid that such a discussion would quickly break down into trade requests and demands that rare material be posted on the MP3 site.

Thanks for the info, y'all.

I'm really just interested in the shows I attended, but didn't record (most of them). I agree that we should let rare stuff stay rare. Although, it would be neat to hear Like a Virgin...

I don't really see why the rare stuff should remain rare, actually. What is so sacred about the "Like A Virgin" recording that it can't be posted on the MP3 site? Unless the band themselves say "I don't know what Pelham was thinking, he was listening to the Immaculate Collection waaay too much at the time, please don't share that" I don't see much wrong with it. Of course the decision is to be made by the people who taped the shows. If they don't want to share, that's totally cool and it's their perogative (Bobby Brown).

On a side note, is there any place we can post MPEGs? I wouldn't mind posting a song or to that I taped from the last Red Rose show, but they may be too big.

I would say that it could be for this reason...

The less people that have a particular "rare" recording, the more meaningful that recording is. If the Features are to go on to worldwide acclaim like some of us anticipate, then such a recording would be very much in demand for a boxed set in years to come. If the Features break up for some reason, then such a recording would probably leak a little more down the line, because it wouldn't be as important. Thus, it is somewhat understandable as to why people hold tightly to these things.

I don't mind trading, just as long as I get something cool in return. Bowl of Fire let me work on some of his Features bootlegs in return for a couple of mine and the return of his originals. Deals like that are the best.

I think that's it for me. If I'm anything in the bootleg world, and I'm really not that involved with it at all, I am a bootleg trader. If I filled up the mp3 site with all the shows I have, then I have no cards to deal when other traders come along.

That's precisely it. You don't want to saturate the market.

Okay, I get it now.

I used to trade X-Men trading cards. It was fun. One time I got the Wolverine Marvel Masterpieces from 1993 and traded it away for something...I was dumb. Of course I got it back when I bought the entire set a couple years later!!

I don't know what I'm talking about.

Sorry, I didn't work on them over Memorial Day like I thought that I would. I'll try to finish them over the weekend or before. It will be well worth your wait.

It's cool, don't worry about it. I was trying to figure out how to show that I was anxious like a heroin addict, but not really angry. Take your time.

Oh OK, I like that much better. You did a good job, I just didn't realize your excitement.
