Last night i was treated to a 2 hour show of lou barlow. (sebadoh, folk implosion). after nearly 90 minutes of a solo acoustic performance members from alaska joined him onstage for a sebadoh set. (mainly songs from bakesale). the show was amazing. one of the best i've seen in a while.

by the way...the slow bar kicks ass. the owners are the nicest people in the world. i hope to se more shows like that there in the future.
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

Yeah, it was a great show! I currently know very little about Lou, but I intend to do my research now. Sebadoh's Bakesale might be one of the next albums I buy (after the new Pearl Jam album that comes out tonight).

The only thing that sucked was the heckling. That was out of control! I will admit, though, one of the loudest guys there actually did a really good job when he got up and sang "Freed Pig" (I think that's what it was called). Luxury Liner David told me that song was about him quitting Dinosaur, Jr. I suppose I can let that slide, though.

Was anyone else shocked by the song he sang about Joseph's brother James being the true biological father of Jesus Christ? I no longer consider myself a catholic, but I still felt a little uneasy about that one.

I can't believe I left before the Alaska members joined in. I'm sick of this 9-5 crap. It was a good show. Some of the boldest pot smokers I've seen in a while, joint after joint, right in front of the stage. I particularly enjoyed the call from mom midway thru the set.
An open frame in the 10th, I WAS ROBBED!

That's debatable. I appreciate the shows they've brought to Nashville & I like the bar itself, but Grimey can get old very fast. But maybe I'm bitter because we've met about 10 times and (a) he always asks if I'm a new customer when I go to his store and (2) he always cards me at the Slow Bar. Plus he once remarked to me that he'd "LOVE" to have the Features open for a great show he had booked, but it would be "too crowded". I thought that was the goal of owning a bar?

I understand your pain... I am easily annoyed and he annoys me. I've sensed an underground movement of people not liking him. But I am not trying to be a gossip bitch unlike some poeple that I know....

bold pot smokers indeed. lou asked me before hand if i had ever dreamed about singing sebadoh songs on stage......i thought he was joking! i respectivly declined his offer.

the "loobiecore" cd is excellent.

i thought grimey was a nice guy. now that was my first visit to the slow bar, so i can't make any critizism. to me anyone that will stand around and chat with me about music is cool in my book.

.
you have to know the full story behind "the freed pig" in order to appreciate and understand where lou was coming from. J Mascis phones Lou up and says, "I'm breaking up Dinosaur Jr." Lou says, "ok". The next day, J starts a new version of Dinosaur Jr....minus Lou. Lou did get fucked over on that one.

Well, I can't say that I blame him then. I know of a few people that happened to, and it SUCKS.
