I've been informed that some people have been having some trouble with the message board not responding fast enough. Since I'm not really here enough to know where the troubled threads may be, can someone describe what's happening when the board is being sluggish? Is it for any random user? Happening to a specific person? Dial-up user? Broadband?

One thread of interest is the "8-1-04 Rhythm & Brews" Concert Review One of joeywade's posts is listed four times. Also, the list of topics shows that the last person to post in the thread was Sexy Sadie. However, when you view the topic, Digsy's post is the last one shown. (Several people have posted in the thread since Digsy, but none of the new posts appear.)

I wouldn't think this is related to the board's performance issues (which I haven't personally experienced), but it is a bit strange.

I can read sadie's message now. That was my only problem other than having to read quadruple posts.

As of yesterday, I'm still getting PMs.

And I have a T3 connection here.

I posted in that thread late last night, but it wasn't showing up. I tried to quote one of Joeywade's posts that didn't get screwed up. I don't even remember what I wanted to say, so it's obviously not important. I remember it saying that I was the last to post, but it was nowhere to be seen.
That's so NA.

The message board made me sexually inadequate. Is there anything you can do for that?
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

Yeah, after I posted my comment about the show, it did not appear in the thread. I didn't know what was going on. blink.gif
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

As far as I can tell the board is a very slow downward spiral of entropy. The fact that random threads are saying they have replies that aren't appearing either means that the forum permissions have been messed with from an outside source or that the software is just starting to have a very hard time coping with the sheer amount of data that it contains.

Solutions for this? Not sure, because the attempted switch over to phpBB didn't seem to go over so well. Plus, being that there IS so much information here, saving all of the posts seems uncertain.

Please keep me up to date on these errors (particular thanks to Carl for the emails) and I will attempt to do some research to see if it can't be duct taped back together.

And thanks to everyone for their patience during these quirks.. I know it can be annoying and frustrating.

Invision seems to be a well-supported system with plenty of developers working in the community. I think there are several tools for the system that will check and repair the database tables. (The mySQL Toolbox looks especially useful.) Using such tools might help to find and fix some of the board's nagging problems.

There's also a newer version of Invision available now. I'm not sure how eager you are to go through an upgrade like that, but I've found that it's usually easier to upgrade to a newer version of the same platfrom than migrate to a new one.
