There was at one time a rather lengthy thread on this topic in the General Forum. I was going to bring it back from the dead, but the message board freaked out

This thing is addictive, I forgot that I had signed up for the message board and then I came back to the board like a month ago or something and I was hooked. But I'm going through withdrawal because my computer is so retarded and it's not working right now! I ust took a final near the library so I stopped by to check on the board.

i'll admit, i had my period of obsession... it was called the "i'm stuck at home in west virginia with nothing to do" days. i've since gotten better. the fact that i've allowed so many people catch up to me in total posts is evidence of that.
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

Yeahhh.. about that..

I've been known to check in the mornings before school. I know even that is a little extreme, but actually there are usually a couple other board members on as well. Anyways, this morning I woke up a half hour after I was supposed to, and was running really really late. As I was frantically running around the house, I decided that I couldn't wait til 2:15 and made myself even more late by STILL CHECKING. I'm sorry, but to me this is getting out of hand. My name is Rachel, and I'm addicted to this board.

Welcome, Rachel. Share your pain. what emotions are you feeling right now?

btw, you get out of school at 2:15!? oh, if only I could have been so lucky...

Jeez, every post I make always goes back to something school related. I couldn't pretend I wasn't in high school if I tried. School starts at 7:15. I don't mind it because it's just as hard to wake up at 8:30. The day goes by much faster.

In college, you can check the message board in a number of different locations at many times during the day. If it's before 10 am, I usually check the board from the KUC. The library is usually a sure fire place to find a free computer. I usually like using "Poe" or "Hemingway" and, if lucky, "Fitzgerald."

if I actually went to class, I think I might leave in the middle and use the olde "im going to the bathroom trick" and check the board. luckily, I have a computer in my snug apartment! smile.gif

i was suposed to be somewhere 15 minutes ago. this is a perfect example of MBA.

Don't worry, Rachel. I'm still in high school, too. 7:15-2:15, 5 days a week. Yeah, that's my life.

Briggs, how about we are friends that occasionally make fun of each other because of thier age? Sound good?
And Token, Much sympathy for you and YaDaDaDa. I'm at least at high school because I'm in it.

This is the commercial break for Sorority Life. Another example..

Speaking of Addictions is anyone else addicted to the Sorority/Fraternity Life?

oh, it is disgusting. i love it. the first sorority life was alot better, but i still watch this one too. that one gossipy girl is such a bitch. this is probably one of my guiltiest guilty pleasures. fraternity life, however, is just gross and i tend not to watch it very intently (plus its theme song makes me want to jump off my roof).

you mean Maggie? I HATE HER. all she cares about is talking shit about how the other girls arent "involved enough" and snitching on them to the sisters. if she doesnt want brooke back then SHE should leave. whew, sorry.. felt like venting.

Gosh, I just don't think I could bring myself to watch it again. I could probably take the fraternity one before the sorority one though. I can't put up with those little conniving bitches.

i have never seen such shows, oh wait, i saw like 5 minutes of one a while back. i can def. see it being an addictive guilty pleasure. not for me, though. i think tv in general is scary and mind numbing, esp "reality shows" esp. ones that focus on things as meaningless as sorority life. oh, ok, im still drunk from last night...

I am constantly surrounded by those sorts of people (on the bus, in class), and I can barely stand it. I can't imagine wanting to be subjected to that.
Why would you do that?

I never really watch the Sorority/fraternity show on MTV, but i do watch The Real World and Road rules when I can.

I am by the way addicted to that show "The Dead Zone" it comes on USA @9 on Sunday nights... I've been addicted since the first episode..

agree with all of that. the only thing that really bothered me about the first season was those lame ass tiffanys necklaces with the ugly hearts that they ALL would wear every day. however, i would pledge with any of those girls just to laugh at them and make their lives miserable... and i would perm my hair as a joke.
oh the drudgery of being wet

No...that's Message Board Addiction.
Back to, you know, the topic.

I've found that my message board addiction goes in spurts. I'd probably still be embarassed if the total hours I've spent just reading this silly thing since the first of this year. It'd be a lot. I've taken two lengthy breaks from the board, going a month or two without posting, but in neither case could I stay away from reading this very often.

Take right now, for instance, I've got a test to make for today. It's around 6:45 and I still have my long commute, and here I am at the message board.

I just felt I'd vent this morning. I can't wait until the weekend, when this thing called work won't interfere with my reading of the message board.
I can't grow a beard, and I don't like to party.

I neglect my duties as well. There have been often times when I have started to read this board, and when I look up, I realize that I am going to be late for class. So, I just keep reading and don't go. In fact, I am doing that right now!

the message board is big procrastination for me, I usually have homework and I always get on the m-board to look at something and I end up staying on it so long, but it's not a bad thing
