I tried so hard to watch it last night from the parking lot at work. Marianne and I went outside and made people who were shopping wait for us to come back and check them out. It was overcast..as mindylieu said. How long is it going to last for?

The moon's been pretty bright the last couple of nights so that affects viewing. Although there will be more meteors in the sky than last year's Leonids, this year's won't be as brilliant because of the moonlight. (Cue Features song) I went out for a while last night, but it was too overcast to see anything.

I think it's over now. You might still see a few more meteors than you would on a normal night, but it won't be anywhere close to the 1,000/hour that you get during the height of the storm.

Why is it that every time there is some sort of astronomical phenomenon they say there won't be another like for x amount of years?

obviously because it's such a predictable science (insert sarcasm smiley). I always wonder why everything is so many years away, no one ever says 'there's going to be meteor storm in two years'. You'd think they might if they only happen every 33.
