Does anyone have any thoughts on Music Therapy or know anyone who has a career in that field? I need some information and opinions.

No, but if I had it all to do over again, I would have been a dog psychologist. I mean, really, is there an easier job out there? You know those people get paid well.

I majored in Music Therapy for 1 1/2 years. This was at Tennessee Tech and in the late 90's. This program has since went under due to lackluster leadership in the department and in my opinion sketchy results from the actual therapy. Now, before I get slammed with statistics and numbers just remember this is my opinion from actual work with the elderly and mentally retarded.

It's an honorable field to go into, but to be safe I would back this degree up with a music education degree for the many times the government will cut your funding and you lose your job.

p.s. I'm an engineer now, it turns out I was trying to turn a hobby into a career. Don't do that unless you REALLY love your hobby.
