Clinic Reveal Details, Release Date For New LP
Consider hiring additional band personnel to body-spell "W.D.Y.Y.B." in video

Jeffrey Ellinger reports:
Clinic's third album is now officially finished-- at least, according to Domino Records' website. Recorded at Elevator in Liverpool, the provisionally titled Winchester Cathedral promises to be a musically adventurous, yet at the same time more accessible effort. We're promised no less than "more extremes of bubblegum/weirdness...with added harmonium, afuche, tables and an effects-driven hint of Professor Longhair."
Of course, Pitchfork broke some details of the new album's tracklist and proposed musical aesthetic back in April, but as Bob Dylan might mumble, things have changed. Two new songs have been added to the fray: one, entitled "Fingers," reportedly features "pianola, yet more fuzz and an almost 'Santa Dog' Residents rhythm." The other new track is called "Falstaff" and apparently replaces the cut "Clear Love" on the tracklist we reported in the spring. Anyway, if the album dropped tomorrow the songs would go like this:
01 Vertical Take Off In Egypt
02 Falstaff
03 Thank You (For Living)
04 Fingers
05 Home
06 Country Mile
07 Anne
08 W.D.Y.Y.B.
09 The Majestic #2
10 Circle of Fifths
11 Stardust
12 August
13 The Magician
The album is scheduled to be mixed by the able Ken Thomas next month. However, just like the labyrinthine delays at your H.M.O., you're gonna have to wait a while to hear it, as the new record won't be out until sometime in April 2004. As befits any record with an Oasis-esque title like Winchester Cathedral, the album will be preceded by a single next February-- about the same time Clinic plans to make stops across the UK on a "folk"-oriented tour. Could they be forsaking their echo boxes for banjos?
Clinic will also break their long performing hiatus with their first UK show of 2003, at Domino Records 10th Anniversary bash this October 4th in London:
10-04 London, England - ICA (w/ Hood)
