I guess this'll do, since I was wanting to start a topic about this summer's crop of movies (I don't like starting new topics if we already have similar ones around).
I saw 28 Days Later and it was positively disturbing. It was very, very good. The acting was great (the head lady was in Nickelodeon's "Tomorrow People" for Pete's sake!) and the music was really cool as well. Overall, I'm very pleased with the movie. I would recommend it to everyone.
I saw both "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" today. "T3" was very very average. It was fun and entertaining, with pretty much no substance. If I'm going to go see that kind of movie, "Charlie's Angels" will win hands-down everytime. Of course, getting to watch Claire Danes shoot big machine things with a gun was pretty cool.
"Pirates..." was really entertaining and fun. The skeletons were absolutely creepy, so Ray Davies better be prepared when he sees this movie. I thought Johnny Depp's performance was very quirky and clever and the overall movie was full of swash-buckling fun. I would recommend it.
I hope to see "The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen" pretty soon, and I hope it does not disappoint. So now I'm going to move on to the obligatory list...
Digsy's Best Movies Of The Summer...
1. "X2: X-Men United"
2. "Finding Nemo"
3. "From Justin To Kelly"
4. "28 Days Later"
5. "Charlie's Angels 2: Full Throttle"
6. "Hollywood Homicide"
7. "Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl"
8. "Hulk"
9. "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde"
10. "Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines"
11. "Wrong Turn"
Yeah, there is a lot of thoughtless crap on the list. 3 & 11 are on it because they are so bad that they are highly hilarious. I also enjoyed 5 & 9 despite my manliness. "The Matrix: Reloaded" does not even rank. I would rather spend eternity watching "FJ2K" than seeing that crap pile.
So...um...what has everyone else thought of all the other movies that have come out that we haven't yet discussed? Just trying to turn the topic away from soap-operaness...
