It was decent, the best part was seeing Big Pete( Pete and Pete) and Jason's Schwartzman's (I know I fucked up the spelling) hair doll.

Ghostworld is very funny movie. The Man Who Wasn't There is good, too. And... one chick is in both movies. How weird is that?

I recently rented Adam Sandler's Mr. Deeds. His movies usually make me laugh, but I didn't expect much from this one. I thought it might have a few funny moments, but I expected it to be the same type of humor he's always done. I was very pleasantly surprised, though, and I found the movie to be quite enjoyable.

My favorite funny movie has to be Tommy Boy. Other good ones: Swingers, Made, American Pimp, Black Sheep and any other Chris Farley movie, Can't Hardly Wait, that's all I can think of right now..

It's funny that you should say that, TF, because I had very low expectations when I saw Mr. Deeds, and it was worse than I ever could have expected. Really, though, except for Punch-Drunk Love, I think that Adam Sandler has been in a steady decline since Happy Gilmore. The Waterboy, Big Daddy, Little Nicky, Mr. Deeds...they have slowly but surely gotten worse. BUT...8 Crazy Nights looks like it could be really funny.

It's not with David Spade, but have you seen Almost Heroes? It's with Farley and Matthew Perry and it's hilarious. I think that was the movie he died midway through filming.

Yes, if you have not seen Swingers, you must. Personally, it's one of my favorite movies (of course I have about three hundred or so). Some people don't like it too much, but I love it. You have to have the right kind of humor.

Here are some "must sees", if you haven't seen them already...Harold and Maude, Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, any Chris Guest movies, and, of course, Monty Python's And Now For Something Completely Different.

Dumb & Dumber.
Yes, Dumb & Dumber is in my top 10 movies of all time. I basically have the entire movie memorized. I am proud to own it on vhs and dvd. I love Jim Carrey in general, but that was his prime, in my opinion. God, I love that movie.

Wayne's World is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's in the top 10 as well. I remember the first time I saw it...ah...those were the days. Speaking of Mike Myers, I also remember the good ol' days of SNL when they actually had a good cast...before it turned into poo.

Oh... So I Married an Axe Murderer...I love it. Some people say it's not very good, but I think it's excellent (Zang!). That movie contains some of the best quotes ever. For example: "HEAD, PAPER, NOW!" or "My name is John Johnson, but everyone here calls me Vicki"

Speaking of jetpack, they're great and they're having a CD release party at the End on Saturday. Andrea (verde) and David (Luxury Liners) Dewese are opening with some sort of duo acoustic thing. It should be awesome!

I don't watch new SNL all that much, but Chris Farley and Adam Sandler have never appealed to me so I'm not much of a fan of the early 90s SNL. I really enjoyed SNL last season and the year before that. Tina Fey...she is so hilarious...she's made Weekend Update the highlight of the show where it was once the low point.

And she's cute.

Most definitely. Original and rockin'. Plus, they're extremely nice guys. Sean and Steven always go out of their way to talk to me at shows. Plus, they're one of the few bands that I know whose members regularly attend shows other than their own. Jetpack Sean is a huge Features fan.

Huh, who knew?

The couple times I saw them I wanted to throw ice or something in the drummer's mouth the whole time he was playing. I think it was wide open the entire set. Other than that nit-picky item, I thought they sounded really derived, just real run of the mill. However they could have improved dramatically since the last time I've seen them.

Steve Martin has, in fact, never been a cast member of Saturday night Live. He's been on the show more than any other non cast member other than Paul Simon (who has been both musical guest and guest and host *numerous* times). Behind Steve are Tom Hanks, John Goodman, and George Wendt.

I'm almost certain that John Goodman now holds the record for the most SNL host/guest appearances. He's hosted either 11 or 12 times. Simon's hosted/performed 9 or 10 I believe. I'm not sure how many times Steve Martin has hosted but he does have a lot of guest appearances. Hanks has either 5 or 6 host credits.

I watch SNL reruns more than anything else on television. In fact, its the only thing I watch on TV other than CNN. Keith and neuboy know this all too well. The early 90's SNL cast was by far the best. Hartman (!), Hooks, Farley, Spade, Rock, Dunn, Sandler, Meadows, Nealon, Miller, Schneider. If you really go back and watch a lot of the original cast stuff, I'd say only half of it is really funny. They've got a lot of credit over the years really for their freshness and originality.

As far as movies go, I haven't seen Wet Hot American Summer or whatever its called. I'll take it under advisement. American Pimp was funny for about ten minutes then it was boring. I don't even think I finished it. Ghost World was good, not great. There was some funny stuff. For my money, Kingpin is the best comedy of latter years, next to Meet The Parents. Of course, the greatest comedy of all time has and always will be Caddyshack. Best in Show gets better every time I see it.

I must agree that the early 90's cast has always been my favorite. I've seen my share of the original cast, and it's true that only about half of it is funny at all.

On the other hand, I'm not a big fan of Meet the Parents. I've only seen it once, but I wasn't absolutely thrilled about it. Don't get me wrong, it was funny, but I think their have been much funnier movies. I absolutely love Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, but that was not a high point in their careers to me. I'd take Reality Bites, Bottle Rocket, or The Royal Tenenbaums any day.

And, yes, Caddyshack will always be one of the best. Not only because of the wonderful talents of Chevy Chase and Ted Knight, but mainly because of Mr. Bill Murray, a genius in my mind

I also love Best in Show. Like any other Chris Guest film, it is absolutely hillarious. How could it not be with that cast? O'Hara, Posey, Levy, McKean, Willard, and Mr. Guest himself!? It is marvelous. That's some of the best entertainment I've seen in the past few years.

The statistic I got had Simon hosting/performing 14 times. Steve Martin was 12. But this was a couple years back...

Wiyum: I stand corrected. Bravo for your astute knowledge of SNL history.

As for that asshole O'Reilly, I can hardly say the words "O'Reilly" and "Journalist" or "News" in the same sentence. Granted, CNN doesn't have an interviewer nearly as good as him. But, on the other hand, CNN doesn't have an interviewer that only half-interviews his guest. O'Reilly barks out a question, listens for about a sentence, then interrupts with a scoff before the guest can finish their point. The volume of the guest's voice is always much lower than O'Reilly's so he can get away with it. Its an old D.J.'s trick that Limbaugh and Howard Stern mastered. Political leanings aside, that is definitely not something you would find on CNN. Its more of a tabloid than anything else.

With that said, I also agree that the 95-02 SNL cast would rate a close second.

P.S. God Save Phil Donahue

Don't be ashamed, damon. He is great. Roadie just can't stand the fact that so many people agree with Bill O'Reilly. I'll tell you what I like about O'Reilly - he's intelligent, he's usually right, and he doesn't sugar-coat the truth. He's not afraid to lay into Democrats or Republicans (God knows both NEED laying into). Yeah, he cuts interviewees off and is rude to them (that kind of gets on my nerves sometimes, too), but you know what - 75% of the time, what he interrupts with is correct and true. And Roadie, I watched CNN's answer to Bill O'Reilly (that bullshit Donahue show), and he does the same thing with his mic volume vs. his guests' - welcome to television in 2002.
