Ooh, Ray Davies...I will get you and your cute avatar. It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

But, anyway, I'm excited about the new Radiohead album. From what I've heard about it, it sounds like it shall be very nice. I'm a little upset about the June release date, though. I think I heard a couple of months ago it would be released in March or April.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

What was wrong with Amnesiac?.... The info on that link sounds it will be very promising. Although, I would have rather heard what Thom or jonny have to say about it, rather than phil and ed. Neither of those guys have really any say about how the albums are put together. As thom says himself about who has control: "If radiohead's the UN, I'm America."

I really like Amnesiac. Of course it's no OK Computer or The Bends, but it's still very good, in my opinion.

Amnesiac may be my favorite album, in all honesty. Songs like Pyramid Song, You and Whose Army, and I Might Be Wrong just chill me every time.

I really love it all, so picking a favorite is pretty pointless anyway.

Why do people have to pick favorites? Talk to fifty fans of any band with an extensive catalog of albums and they will all disagree about favorite songs, albums, etc. Who cares? It doesn't matter. Everything Radiohead has put out is brilliant in my opinion. Saying something like "I like OK Computer" but "can't stand Pablo Honey or Amnesiac" is like trying to compare which monkeyman is better on the evolutionary scale. They are good for the time they are conceived in, and where the listener identifies most with a certain time period tends to dictate a large part of appreciating this album or that album. If you are really into techno, chances are you will like Amnesiac over The Bends. if you are into minimalist guitar rock, Pablo Honey might be your thing. It's all relative.

What, so you can't say Dr. Feelgood is better than New Tattoo? Fuck that. For my money, give me any other Radiohead album over Amnesiac. Call me un-hip, but it just bores the hell out of me.

Yo...we're not deciding which Radiohead album to take out of print forever here. We're just having an opinion on which ones we like better than others. Let's just say that Kid A, and especially Amnesiac were not my favorite Radiohead albums. But I still think that either one is better than Pablo Honey.

it has nothing to do with liking one specific genre of music. i didn't feel that the songs were really there on amnesiac. i'm very optimistic about the next album, and i hope those rumors about playing bonaroo are true.

despite how much you may be into "minimalist guitar rock" which would make "pablo honey" your thing, radiohead themselves pretty much disown that album. they consider "amnesiac" to be their 4th album.

I like everything Radiohead has put out, I mean the sound of the band has definitely changed since their Pablo Honey days but I can appreciate everything they've released. I do hope that they have some more lyrics floating around on the next album though.

You can't help but pick favorites if you like something, it's natural. Mine's the Bends in this case.

I don't know if he counts because he is only a missing link and not yet officially accepted on the evolutionary scale, but my favorite monkeyman is Patrick Ewing.

I love both versions of Try, Try I've heard (both live, one full band and the other Thom solo). Thom's vocals are simply stunning. The studio version should rock.

I can't wait for the album. I love everything they do but I would really like to see a return to the rock. Though a good blend of The Bends, OK Computer and Kid A would be very nice.

I dont' think of Amensiac as being that really. I think of it as the leftovers from the Kid A sessions (I think there are even more that haven't been released from those sessions). They did come from that. I still liked the album though.

Everyone calls Amnesiac leftovers like the songs weren't good enough to be an album or something. Not that you meant that, but so mmany people do. To me, they recorded alot, figured out not only which songs worked best as an album, but which album would make the biggest splash and released that. There's no convincing me that a song like "Treefingers" was considered more worthy for release than "Pyramid Song," "You and Whose Army," "I Might Be Wrong," or "Life in a Glass House." Those songs just didn't fit into the controversial album that they wanted Kid A to be. Amnesiac is clearly a step back towards OK Computer from Kid A, if the recording situation was normal. I just don't see that being how it was done.

i remember reading a review of amnesiac where the songs on that album were described as the ones radiohead were a little afraid of

i dig that concept

i really wish that radiohead had released Kid A as a two-disc set as they originally intended. I compiled my own version of Kid A once on a 90 minute casette combining b-sides, and most of Amnesiac. It was a great tape.....

I took my favorite stuff from both albums and called it Kid Amnesiac. Clever, huh?

Also, I have a two-disc set of CDs I've compiled of Radiohead B-sides. I think the Kid A/Amnesiac songs are as good if not better than the tracks that made it on the albums. The Bends B-sides are hands-down the best though.

I have a hard time distinguishing the two albums (based in large part to the aforementioned compilation).

has anyone else heard the roxy music covers that thom yorke sings with "the venus in furs" on the velvet goldmine soundtrack?

I've heard it. It's nice. I also liked it when Thom sang with Bjork on the "Dancer in the Dark" soundtrack. He sings differently than he does on Radiohead albums, but I still like it. I think they work well as a duet. They both have wonderful voices, I think, and people think of them in the same way: they either they're incredibly annoying or beautiful.

yeah, i have that problem as well... they're definitely distinguishable from eachother, but both are so distinguishable from the bends and ok computer that they kind of sound like the two sets of albums are on opposite and equal sides of the fence. Plus, i got into Amnesiac before I got into Kid A, but bought Kid A first.... it just throws my whole chronology off. hehe.

Polyethelyne rocks my world, Palo Alto as well. However, for my money, the best B-Side is Fog. I just love it so much.
