I've secretly been enjoying the player feature on the new site for quite some time. And before it comes up, I believe TF said that BrianW took great pains to make sure that we cannot download the unreleased tracks that are on the player. If any one figures it out, it will be TF.

I like the site lots. Thanks again to our semi-silent administrator, Michael E, and all he does for us.

I have also been enjoying the new site secretly for some time.....I love being able to have my very own features AIM icon. The photos section of the site is almost like a game of spot the message board member.....

The best part of the site, however, is the music player. Bravo to BrianW and Michael fro putting together such a wonderful site.....

on a seperate note, if you notice on the news page it mentions that the features could perhaps be playing some shows at the end of the month. well, i just got done talking to a co-hort of mine and he informed me that imaginary baseball league and the features are more than likely going to play a show together.....this news made my day........i hope the guys can pull something together to satisfy their hungry fans.....

I looked. I'm in none of the fotos.

A show soon would be good, but if they're actually recording like the new site says, then I'll wait.

I really enjoy the new site. Thank you, Features message board administrators. My favorites are the photos and extras sections, of course. It's beautiful.

This news of a Features show has made me very happy. I hope it's true this time.... mad.gif laugh.gif

Okay then...who's going to be Rachel's Daddy?

The new site is, indeed, awesome. The new pictures totally blow me away. I have never seen Our Band look as cool as they do in those snow day press pics. The new video is great (now I know what BrianW has been filming for all these months!). I also have to say that the recorded versions of "Bring on the Night" "Someway, Somehow" and the new "Leave It All Behind" completely rock my socks off.

And a few shows at the end of the month? Nothing says "school year is over" like a Features show (which is how I began this school year, oddly). The AIM icons are too totally cool, as well as the new wallpapers. Adorable. Tis a glorious time, indeed!

Someone a while back posted that they saw a sign that claimed you can get in with a parent at 12th and Porter. I'm sure it's true at other venues too but I'm definatley gonna call and check first.

Actually, I think this is a time where my youth works to my advantage. They are more likely to belive that the person is my parent when I'm 14 then when I'm 17.

I also just noticed that the "most users ever online" date has been moved up to April 10th, which means that last October '02 date has been toppled. Maybe the launch of the new site will evoke even more addiction to this board and we can break the record again!

Hail new site.

Agreed. This is, however, my only concern.

I'm glad to finally be able to say all that I've wanted for weeks to say: I love the site and I love the new Demons video. Mad props Michael on the former and Mr. Wilson on the latter. I'm quite a fan of the new format that everything takes. The player is grand (and I think you've changed the security on the audio files, because I can't do what I did a few weeks ago), and I look forward to anything that gets added to the playlist on that thing. Its great to see a discography page on the official site, I'm a sucker for that (as is obvious). All in all, I couldn't love the site more (unless you gave me back my nav tools).

Oh, and I love the 33 1/3 wallpaper. Very classy.

What is the font of the Features website? I mean the font that the band name is written in? It seems almost century gothic, but falls astray of that somewhere and is something else.

Great work, everyone involved!

Amazing work on the new site! I almost feel like I did back when I was a Features virgin- like I'm never going to stop listening to the player or watching the Demons video over & over. Props to Matt for his many costume changes. I love how the video makes them look like huge rock stars, what with the snazzy lights & big crowds. Prophesies of things to come? Was the audio for that taken from the recorded Exit-In show from April of 2002?

When I first visited 12th & Porter, they would let some people in who were under 21 if they had a certified "guardian" and that person may not have had to be their real parent. However, since then, all 21+ places in Nashville have faced stiff penalties for letting underage drinking go on.

Just the forward / back buttons or the whole standard shebang? Forward/Back? Address Bar? File / Edit / View? Let me know, I can just change the javascript.. though the window will be THAT much smaller due to trying to keep things compliant with 800x600 browsers. Fortunately it's resizable.

What's your disappointment with the "downloads"?

To throw in a perhaps unpopular view, I love 18+ shows. I feel 21+ overdoes it, but I hate going to see a band I love and dealing with all of the young uns that show up. Granted there are always people like rachel that are cool that get screwed in the process (I know I was one of them), but the majority of younger audience members are really annoying, uncool, teeny-bopper, going-to-the-show-because-it'll-make-them-"cool" or they think that the band they're seeing is cool for that week alone. I hate to be so broad and generalizing about it, but that's the nature of the beast. One day, Rachel, you'll be 18, and though you'll still wish you'd have been able to see those shows while you weren't, you'll be glad you don't have to share the room with people who are of the mindset of most of the people you are currently going to school with (unless you like the people you're in school with on the whole, for which you should count yourself lucky).

I'd be cool with the whole forward/back thing. I just got flood controlled, and without the nav tools, I was at a loss for a moment as to how I'd get back without going to the mb frontpage.

And yeah, any downloadable tracks are worthwhile and downright awesome, even if they aren't the new recordings, which simply require more work and whose retreival is frowned upon...

Again, thanks michael, the site is amazing.

I dunno if this has been fixed yet or not, but the downloads for Engine Debris and Paid to Think had swapped titles. Or maybe I imagined it. I have no speakers right now, so I can't check.

I have a few random inquiries about the audio files in general...

Since The Features EP has been discontinued, would it be possible or "allowed" to offer the songs on the track listing as downloads? I've never heard Roger's Theme before. I had also never heard D-Con or Engine Debris before the site revamp, so thanks for those.

Also, with all this talk of different "sessions" (Mahaffey, Rawlings, etc.) could these ever show up on the discography page, or are they not "actual" releases? I'm also interested in knowing more about the Circus/33 1/3 single, the 3 song demo, and the Mississippi Album mentioned on Wiyum's discography page. Even if there are no downloads offered, it would still be cool to see a discography straight from the horse's mouth (though Wiyum's site does a bang up job).

Finally, are the songs on the preview player meant to be a loose indicator of the track listing for the new album, or should it just be taken as a cross section of the Features' work over the years?

I'm not sure about the Features EP. I think the band has matured from that sound so much that I don't think they are interested in distributing it in any form anymore. And different members were in the band at the time (true, same goes for the Samplers stuff). People that are new to the Features might be thrown off by the style of the EP (not that it's worlds different.. but it's definetly different enough). To my knowledge, I wouldn't bet on seeing those mp3's ever being offered.

The "sessions" stuff are just that - sessions, not releases. The Mahaffey stuff is enough for an entire album, the Rawlings stuff for a nice EP.. actually almost every session they've done would make for an EP - but only released stuff goes in the discography. I realize that the 33 1/3 CD sampler that was passed out at a handful of shows was technically "released" but I'm not into splitting hairs.. that's not a discography item. Fortunately people like Wiyum provide the hardcore information for the fans that really take their Features love to another level.

The tracks in the preview player are just a random sampling of the bands sound. Some classics, some future classics, and some oldies but goodies. It is not meant to reflect a future album tracklisting in any way.

Tom Foolery: The Random Thoughts section will (supposedly) just be a log for the band to use to post whatever they see fit. I suspect Rollum will post the majority of stuff with Roger coming in second. I'm not sure Matt has much spare time to post and I really don't even know if Parrish comes online. The server software is all setup for them to post, just waiting for one of them to do it.

I dunno if this has been fixed yet or not, but the downloads for Engine Debris and Paid to Think had swapped titles. Or maybe I imagined it. I have no speakers right now, so I can't check.
if remember correctly, the track titles were switched on the cd too. i'm sure that's why.

Boy, you just need MORE and MORE don't you? Put this longing for things out of reach into us and receive the fruits of Daigle. But I wouldn't eat these fruits. It's really like those fruits you put in a bowl and snicker whenever someone grabs one and tries to eat it. But it's fake. And plastic. But it's from God himself so there's something special about it all the same.

That's correct, the titles were indeed swapped on the disc. I was somewhat pleased to see that it carries on in a new generation of distribution.

i would like to say that i dig the new site, esp. having my own cutesie matt AIM icon. everyone is envious of me. i do wish some band members would post their random thoughts on life. its like, the features are so cool, that even if they posted something ridiculous and stupid, we would all be in awe and be like, "that's so awesome".

am i making sense? hmm...didn't think so.
thank you for being a friend.

They should really post random thoughts like...

I am definitely disappointed with the randomness of Roger's thought. The only way I would pronounce satisfaction is should the rumour that Roger is Turkish Muslim is true.

Until then, this loser internet fan puts the stamp of,

WORST RANDOM THOUGHT EVER

on that.

He has more than four, but I just have a picture of the fourth. I also have a picture of Keith's ear, Carl's forearm, and StalkerOnSkates' shin. Now, who is the real stalker?

the fact that they have different shapes is almost as scary as the fact that there are more than 4
