You know you have problems, with both money and alcohol, when you find yourself shoving beers down your pants outside a Features show.

Weezer's new album, 'Maladroit', will be released on May 14. Cool album cover (very mid-1990s Blur). Supposedly it's quite a bit better than the Green Album, but I haven't heard it.

i read an interview with rivers recently. apparantly, he's wanting to be viewed as a guitar hero. the new album is riff heavy too.

Yeah, I read something of that effect also, that he wants to get back to his KISS / Ace Frehley influenced garage rock roots.

this is for all the blur fans on this board

You’ve read about it, you’ve heard it on Radio 1, Radio 2 and XFM, you may have seen it on BBC 4 or live at the Barbican last month, now you can own MALI MUSIC on CD!

MALI MUSIC is a unique collaboration between Damon Albarn and some of Mali’s finest musicians including Afel Bocoum and Toumani Diabaté. Hailed as THE album of the summer, MALI MUSIC was recorded in July 2000 when Damon travelled to Mali as part of Oxfam’s ‘On The Line’ project (the ‘line’ focusing on people living along the Greenwich Meridian). Damon recorded over 40 hours of music with the Malian musicians whose music he loved, in their own back yard, singing and playing his chosen instrument – a battered melodica.

Back in his London studios, these spontaneous recordings were honed into an accessible, happy, sunny and diverse album called MALI MUSIC, embracing reggae, house, rock, ragga and more, but mostly, the true music of Mali. The CD package includes a 40 page booklet containing a photographic record of Damon’s recordings and experiences in Mali.

Damon says ‘My idea is to set up loads of dialogues between this music and other music that I love. I’m sick of the cultural self-assurance you get in the West. I want to get everyone into Malian music.’

Now’s your chance!

MALI MUSIC is the first release on a brand new Honest Jons record label that Damon has formed with the long-established landmark London shop of the same name. Watch out for more releases later this year.

Wow.  I guess now when you call Damon, you can call him 'Al'.

But seriously...it sounds cool; I can't wait to hear it.

rivers need to stick to rhythem guitar and singing.  his solos on green suck.   the other guy plays and creates better solos i think.

got some early mixes back when they were posting them on their website...the only song that really stood out to me was one called 'american gigolo.' i don't really like that 'dope nose' song at all.

There is a new Blur album being recorded as we speak.  Who's producing it?  None other than Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim).

just an interesting fact. norman cook was the drummer for the housemartins. they sort of sound like an optimistic version of the smiths. the housemartins turned into the beautiful south. i don't like either of them. blur needs to go back to stephen street. that's were they belong.

i've had the maladroit record for about a month now. its better than the green album, i guess. but its not very good. they've lost their edge, and its just really simple pop music now. the whole record is full of butt-rock solos and stadium anthems.
pinkerton-era weezer is my favorite band of all time. i guess they got soft in their old age.

not an album to buy if you don't want to hear rivers playing heavy metal guitar parts. i like it, but some of my friends have slagged it.

i really only like the first 4 songs, its not pinkerton (sadly) but thank god its not green. the green album angered me to no end. rivers was like, 'oh! nobody likes this personal GOOD music we're playing. pop music is what's in, let's make some of that and apply the same damn formula to every song on the record including the worst guitar solos (melody lines) that ive ever administered!' . . . don't get me wrong; i listen to green even still on occassion, but its' not a good album.

i miss pinkerton. i crave pinkerton . . .
maladriot is good, and i will listen to it a bit this summer, but i fear weezer will never recover from the boring and trite album they released a year ago.
thank you for being a friend.

i like maladroit. it certainly musically and lyrically surpasses green. everyone should buy it. don't hold green against them.

I've only listened thru the entire thing once, so I haven't formed an official opinion, but I like it so far. If for no other reason, it's different from all the others.
