What do you guys think it the worst career move?

1. Milli Vanilli lip synching at the MTV music awards and having the recording loop on them, leading to the discovery of the scandal, revoking of their grammy, and the death of one of the members.

2. Jerry Lee Lewis marrying his 13 year old cousin at the peak of his career causing the public to turn on him.

3. Prince changing his name to an unpronouncable symbol to become the laughing stock of the music industry.  No relevant albums would follow.

4. Michael Jackson having sleepovers with children which would cast a shadow of guilt on him when molestation charges surfaced.

5. Sinead O'Connor ripping a picture of the pope on SNL right before she fell off the earth.

6. The Features' apathy towards putting out an album or hiring someone to get them noticed while easy top 40 singles 'kari-anne' and 'armani suede' fade into obscurity.  Instead, The Features choose to drive four hours to play for audiences of 30 or less.

Cast your vote.

7. Neil Young making an electronic album.

8. 3 words: Metal Machine Music.

9. Drugs.

10. The Beatles: Apple, Yoko Ono, John Lennon dying, not doing live performances, repainting the wall of the 'apple' building, etc.

11. Jeff Buckley: dying in midstream.

12. Beach Boys: 'Firing' Brian.

13. Tim Buckley: dying face-down in a veritable cornucopia of heroin.

14. Jefforson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship: reaccepting Marty Balin (I hope I spelled that right) into the band while snubbing the talents of Ira Koukonen (I probably didn't spell that right, also, former statement is probably inaccurate, etc.).

15. Can: allowing Malcolm Mooney, despite his unstable mental condition, to leave and replacing him with that sissy Damo Suzuki.

16. Eno: Leaving Roxy Music because of their 'pop' leanings.

17. Roxy Music: Letting Eno leave.

18. Robert Zimmerman: Going electric.

19. Bowie: Going fascist.

20. Bowie: making albums with Eno.

21. Eno: making albums with Bowie.

So 'roxy music' and 'for your pleasure' are more relevant than 'siren' and 'another green world'?  'station to station' and 'before and after science' more relevant than 'low' and 'heroes'?  I can't possibly understand how someone would think eno leaving roxy music was a bad career move for either.  Ditto on bowie/eno work.  Care to explain?

I was a little tipsy and feeling a bit overzealous. Just wanted to 'hear' the sound of my own 'voice.' Pay no mind. However, I rather enjoy the bowie/eno albums.

Neil Young's synth record might have been a Rock and roll disaster, but have you listened to 'Trans?' It is a pretty serious moment for electronic music ... IMHO. And a pretty serious moment for fan alienation ... hehe.

I would love to find a poster of Neil circa Trans, with the Star Trek shades and hands-free mic and all. I would pay top dollar.
