Fellow Nashvillians, do you know what to do at a traffic light when the electricity is out? You treat it as a stop sign. That's right, every traffic light that is "dead" you treat as if it were a stop sign. You DO NOT act as if there is no light there, or treat it as a flashing yellow light.

I'm just making sure everyone's clear on that, because apparently alot of people aren't.

yeah, it totally blows my mind that people don't know what to do...i was at one the other day and three or four cars from one lane would turn, then five or six cars from this other lane would go...it's just as if these people all made up a different rule for how that should work, and it was just chaos.

Even when you know what to do, it's still difficult. At a four-way stop, it's easy to know whose turn it is, when it's clear, etc. At a huge intersection with as many as 20 lanes, it gets much more difficult to coordinate everyone's actions.

and a rule like this would only work if EVERYONE was doing it. especially at night and on a long stretch of road. I was too afraid to make one of those stops last night so i just went with the crowd.
I wanna offended no persons!
