so thanks in part to elt, there has been a bit of a sports theme on the board of late. just thought i'd share that i am becoming a nascar fan. no boys and girl, i'm not kidding. living in somewhat close proximity to a nascar track (bristol) make this possible. if anyone wants to hit up the night race in august let me know. god knows i'm going.

You're not serious. I know that you're just joking. And if you're not joking, then you've been in Johnson City too long and it's time to move back.

i could say that nascar is just a bunch of cars going round and round, but basketball's just a bunch of guys putting the ball in the hole....wait a second....there's so much more than that to basketball. and nascar really is a bunch of cars circling a track. it's too easy to make fun of nascar. college b-ball doesn't have many redneck fans. nascar and pro-wrestling on the other hand....
Nothin' gets in my way....Not even locked doors!

actually no i'm totally serious. i listened to the last half of the race on the radio today and watched a lot yesterday's busch league race at work. i think it's more about the event itself than the actually sport. imagine 150,000 drunk rednecks yelling at cars as they shoot around the worlds fastest half mile. c'mon, you can bring your own drinks into the speedway. how great is that? it would just be a great experience to get caught up in it all. blightman, i think you should definitely make it to the night race. at least someone can enjoy the finer things in life.

This is exactly why I DON'T want to go.

Racing is only fun in the following situations:
1)  Demolition Derby with a Figure 8 Track
2)  Open races, where anyone can enter their car off the street.
3)  A combination of the above

NASCAR does not have any of the above.  It's boring, boring, boring.  (And you listened to it on the RADIO?!?).  I could bring my own alcoholic drinks to watch paint dry, too, but that doesn't make it good.  To each his own, I guess.

Oh, and I don't think B-man is into NASCAR (Elliot was a *character*, only partially based on reality).

wow, i can't believe you listened to a NASCAR radio broadcast. I know a lot of people who are thankful that they don't own a TV, but come on man. what next, Sunday afternoons listening to the senior pga tour?

yes I have heard these things are a big party they have their own scene and people follow them around in their rvs - lots of drugs (meth, coke, pot, lots of alcohol) - but I still would not want to go I'm just not into cars I just can't get into it at all - I know Peter would go he has started watching some and keeping up with the points leaders

ok, the alcohol is obvious, and i could understand the pot. but the meth and coke sound extreme for the type who would sit on top of their camper in an infield watching cars go in circles for hours on end. is that really popular among those folk? maybe thelawnwrangler could enhance his next listening experience with some snortables.
