TOPIC: Save Late World With Zach!
Posted  Monday, April 29, 2002 at 3:09 PM
Post 1 of 11
Late World with Zach has featured many musical guests like The Shins, Ben Folds, Pete Yorn, used Frank Black for it's theme song as well as the White Stripes and now it has been canceled! His humor was extremely geeky and his show had the potential to rival Conan O'Brien and The Daily Show in the very near future. If you haven't watched the show, please watch Monday-Thursday @ 10 on VH1 and see what the show is about.

If you want to save Zach, write VH1 @

VH1
1515 Broadway
New York, NY 10036

or e-mail @

help@vh1mail.com

Just simply say Late World Is On and add any comments about why the show rocked. Please, any help is appreciated!

I usually like his little piano-monolgue at the beginning, but other than that, it's kind of hit or miss.  Sometimes the music's cool, but then other times he has Starsailor or Bush.  I just don't think that that kind of show is what people tune into VH1 to see (there's already so many options on network TV, plus the Daily show, and other stuff).  Maybe we should write to VH1 (and/or MTV) and try to get them to play music videos again.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

that vh1 classic albums idea is great......but i don't think they're ever going to do an album that's worth a damn. it kills me that def leppard's 'pyromania' was the debut episode. i sent a nasty e-mail to vh1 about their reluctance to put relevant people on behind the music. they just sent me a generic reply.

I don't have cable so I've only seen two episodes of Late World with Zack. They were OK. The interviews were less than thrilling, althought it was interesting how he sat in the crowd. I saw the Ben Folds one and part of another episode. That's cool that The Shins were on there though. Maybe I will email VH1 just because of that. Overall I think more videos and less shows on music networks is better. Behind the Music is good though. 'Things seemed to be going well for the band.. until trajedy struck.. when Behind the Music continues.'

judging from the videos mtv2 selects, i'd rather watch a peter frampton behind the music. mtv is just a 'reality show' network. 120 minutes is the only good thing on m2. come to think of it, it was the only good thing on mtv. anyone that genuinely liked the headbangers ball back in the day is cool. when i was a kid i was afraid of those scary heavy metal guys. alternative nation was stupid. mtv was good when they confined genres to blocks. i could avoid yo mtv raps which seems to be on 24-7 anymore. vh1 classic is wonderful. for a while they were showing this early pink floyd live thing(with syd)of them doing astronomy domine. on the 'whooo whooo whooo...' scale down part he raised his arms like a praying mantis on acid.

I would spend the night at a friend's house every Saturday night to watch Headbanger's Ball. Ricky Rachtman ruled. That show turned me on to so much music that I loved. In retrospect though, I probably should have been listening to the Beatles, Dylan, the Who, and other more intelligent music that I didn't get into until much later. But dude, Megadeth ruled in 8th grade! I had the shirt with the skull guy on it. Their name means 'Many deaths.'

If anyone is willing to sign a petition to keep Zach on the air, please go

I do have to say that the first 4 weeks of the show were just above average, but the shows he's been churning out for the past 3 weeks have been stellar and they are just getting better! Cake is on tonight, please tune in and Save Zach!

That's exactly how my 8th grade year was spent...although I was more of a Pantera fan. Does anyone know if the rumor about Ricky R dying of an overdose is true?

Late World w/Zach is my favorite late night show. i was extremely disappointed to learn that the show was cancelled. everyone should tune in for these last 3 days of zachness. if you like what you see, shoot VH1 and e-mail and let them know that the show will be missed. hopefully comedy central will pick it up. it would be a shame to let Late World diminish completely.
