I've been listening to Portishead a lot tonight, and I have always thought that this music would be great sex music. It's just so...sexy.
What are your suggestions for a "Sex Mix," if you will?

when i first read the topic to this thread, I thought, "portishead". heh.
I suggest bjork - she's sooo hott.
ive never heard the record, but everyone who i work with is obsessed with norah jones. they say her music is way sexy.
if i was going to be a stripper, i would strip to led zeppelin. robert plant's voice is sexxy sexxy sexxy.
i know this is cliche, but whole lotta love is a sexy song.
melissa ferrick - drive. please download this song - it is sexy as HELL
lords of acid and jeff buckley have their moments as well.

mmmm...sex.... tongue.gif

There's a rap song called "Love In The Mouth." If that isn't sex music, then I don't know what is.

My last "Sex'n" mix CD included the following artists: Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Barry White, Luther Ingram, Luther Vandross, and Teddy Pendergrast. It was delightful.

Wow, what a saucy thread. I've heard many people say that Portishead is the way to go, and friends have even borrowed my CDs for that exact purpose. If I were to make a "Sex'n" mix CD (hilarious), I would include Van Morrison for romance and Pulp for dirty sexiness.

You just want to make sure that it flows pretty well and that there are no jarring or abrasive (or goofy) songs thrown in that might kill the mood.
Case in point: when "Police and Thieves" comes in on the Royal Tennenbaums Soundtrack. Not a terrible song, but it just switches up the mood somewhat abruptly. This can be a good thing, though...

hmm... i think that Nightingale by Saves the Day and Close to Me by the cure are great... portishead is definitely a mid-coitus pick for me... different tracks from August and Everything After also qualify...

This sort of differs from the rest of what has been mentioned, but I always thought it would be wonderful to, uh, you know along with Maurice Ravel's piece Bolero .

It's a very sexy song because, in addition to the haunting melody, it starts out as a whisper and ends as a roar.

Elliot Smith XO for raw vulnerability
Abbey Road for epic beauty
Nick Drake for wistfulness & tenderness

I'm going to go so far as to say nearly every elliott smith song... he has this way of making you nervous and relaxed at the same time... it's great.

also, The Humpty Dance.

Lies, all lies...

Jeff Buckley would be amazing, if nothing else you could always imagine that it was him (depending on if you like dudes or not). He was a very attractive man with a beautiful voice. Ahhh....

6. I wanna know by Joe
7. how many licks by Lil kim
8.Sexual healing by Marvin Gaye
9 If you wanna ride wit me by Nelly
10. and some song by o-town i think

I will echo Ray Davies' pick and would also add selections by Stan Getz, and, of course, Paul McCartney of some sort is always good.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

Hadn't responded to this. For me, there is no whoopie without

Kid Rock
Aerosmith
Sabbath (Black)
Herman's Hermits
MC Hammer
Young MC (for contrast)
Boston
Kansas
Paula Abdul

in that order. I have several mix tapes with different songs that I use.

I think that's exactly his point. Some people dig that kind of stuff. Don't knock it 'til you tried it (pun intended).

good topic......i had to think about this one a little.

big black- songs about fucking - use only in caution!!! could cause some permanent damages........

the cure - head on the door - a wonderful album thats brings about some sort of romantic feeling inside.

sonic youth - murray street - after it came out last year i began experimenting with the album in different places. obviously it found a great use.

led zeppelin 4 - i'm surprised no one has mentioned this one........

portishead - s/t - this album brings about a memory of a girl who had to have this on while.......ok too much information.

garbage - s/t - theres alot of sexual tension from this album. release it.....
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!
