Yes the acting was stale. Yes the message was Full House-esque. Yes the ending was almost laugh-out-loud ridiculous...but this was still a really good movie that creeped the heck out of me. I've always been scared of UFOs, aliens, roswell, etc so it didn't take much to freak me out (the leg in the cornfield in the promos made me shiver everytime).

While I don't recommend paying $7 dollars to see it (unless you're looking for a nice non-thinky film), I really think that the $4.50 for the matinee is definitely worth it for anyone.

And to anyone who has seen it...come on, the birthday party, the cellar, the pantry, the first sighting....ah it makes me have to sleep with the TV on just thinking about it.

Signs...I saw it last night...it was not a great movie...but...I'm going out on a limb here...it is the most frightening movie that I have ever seen...seriously (and I have seen alot of "scary" movies).

UFOs/Aliens are something that I am scared of anyway, and this movie did not help this fear. Terrifying...please don't see this movie unless you want to be really jarred.

I have this weakness for movies that make me scared. I always LOVE them. Aliens kind of creep me out too, so I think that I will talk to my roommate so that we can go see this tomorrow night.

Not a lot scare me shitless, but I will say that The Exorcist (which I own) is still a movie that I won't watch late at night, alone, or with the lights off. I know that damon has a movie that scares him silly too...Pet Cemetary, eh Shawn? We are SO watching that when you come in.

With that said, what are the scariest movies you all have ever seen?

"Predator" scared me for about 5 months after I saw it when I was around 8 or so. And of course "Alien" still freaks me out. Hmm..."Silence of the Lambs" was pretty scary (I did only see the Lifetime Version). Really, "Signs" has been the only movie that has really really creeped me out in a really long time.

you're obviously drunk. i don't believe that we've ever met...

actually, it's true. both pet cemetary movies scare me a lot. something about toddlers coming back from the grave and killing their families. sometimes at bk, kids will walk up who slightly resemble the kid from that movie, and i get chills...

as for the second one, the scene where the dad wakes up and sees somebody in the rocking chair- well, let's just say I NEARLY SHAT when the body turned out to be the dog...

'The Exorcist' and 'Silence of the Lambs' both scared me when I was younger, but I just laugh at myself when I see them now. The only movie in recent history that has even come close to scaring me was 'What Lies Beneath', but that was nowhere near as scary as 'Signs'.

No part of Signs scared me at all... I dunno, maybe I don't scare easily.

I really loved it though. Shyamalan's a great director at the top of his game, and he knows how to build some suspense. I thought Unbreakable was simply amazing. Signs tied together nicely and was good overall, but not as good as it should have been.

Good movie with a letdown of an ending. I was scared several times, mostly from the wonderful sound design (loudest damn pounding I've ever heard). I actually thought the acting was excellent at times and our man proves he's one of the best directors of children around. That little girl was not only precious but a good lil' actor as well.

I think the children did really good (i mean come on, the boy is related to the great Macauly Culkin) but sometimes during the start of it...Mel Gibson clunked out some lines without any type of...I dunno at times I laughed in my head at his delivery. But only at times. Nothing could detract from the horror...I'm still terrified....

Gibson's lines were delivered a bit odd and he did a lot of acting with facial expression, and I think Shamaylan has a particular way he has his actors act. They usually deliver their lines very cold-like (There's a monster outside my window can I have a glass of water?), but usually it works for me. I can see how it can come off odd.

Saw "Signs" last weekend. Gotta say it ranks right up there w/ "The Exorcist" in the "I just pissed my pants" category! Very scary and tense, but the ending was a little weak. Thought Joaquin Phoenix did a great job, and the kids were spooky.

To memory, only The Shining.

And Brian, good call on the sound design. My early pick for the SOund design Oscar, not that anyone's keeping score with the "lesser Oscars," or really any of them yet.

Cinematography, by the way, has to be either Minortity Report or Perdition. Pretty pretty strips of celluloid, those two.

saw it a couple nights ago. i dug it.

i am also terribly freaked out by aliens, jamie. i went through a phase as a child where before bed i'd pray for protection from aliens while humming "oh lord, oh lord how majestic is your name" by sandy patti. i would grind my teeth and freak-out myself to sleep.

i was a weird kid.

i do still flip my pillow to the cool side.

I used to be the sole kid in my elementary school who checked out the UFO books from the libarary. I would check them out one after the other, read them, and then be terrified for a while. Then the cycle would start anew.

And, lately, I've tried to download the "alien autopsy" videos off of Kazaa but once they complete downloading....they "fail" and are erased from my computer. Conspiracy?

i have to agree with wiyum on this one. it wasn't a scary movie. there might have been one scene that got me to jump a little bit, but for the most part i was unimpressed. it was more of a pitty story than a scary alien movie in my opinion.

i now have beef with the theatre manager who gave me a free movie pass. she might have mentioned that it wasn't good for all movies. i didn't exactly plan on seeing stuart little II or the country bears. stupid honky.

The omen is VERY creepy & has been in high rotation on AMC this summer, so all you cable subscribers should check it out. The movie that has terrified me more than any other is a French movie called "Man Bites Dog". It was deeply, deeply disturbing to me, which scares me more than suspense or horror movies.

So, I rented "Signs" tonight, and I saw it while it was in the theaters. No kidding...It's just as good when you rent it and watch it at home. This time I was alone, and I caught myself looking around my apartment like I did on Halloween night (the night that I saw "The Ring"). If you rent it from Blockbuster, you can go back and buy it previously viewed for $9.99. I am definitely taking up that offer. In all actuality, I am pretty sure that this time it seemed scarier...maybe b/c I was alone. Who knows? Anyway, I wanted you guys to know, since there are so many of us on here who enjoyed the movie (or it just plain scared us).

i got reeeeeeeeeeeeeal good and drunk the night i went to see the ring. i decided if i drank some vodka prior to a scary film i wouldn't be so scared. it worked. i don't remember a thing. but i hear it was pretty freaky.

i still get freaked out if it's dark and i hear any sort of creaking sound. i think it's those damned aliens chattering. smee and i watched it a few days ago and my fears returned. i kept peeking over my shoulder to make sure they weren't behind us. i can think of very few things more horrifying than the thought of evil space-aliens that want to destroy humanity. the ending kind of destroyed the movie though.

No kind of about it. I thought it was really cool until they showed too much of the alien, the mystery was key.
