I always enjoyed this band a lot and figured they could be moderately successful given the right breaks. I'm not sure if there are any other fans here, but I figured I would share the news that they are no more. So it goes. I believe they are playing one more show in a couple weeks on the 9th at the Muse where they are planning to play every song they know. Could be a bittersweet time.

It's kind of the end of an era. When I was in high school, my band Soul Surgeon befriended/played with/competed with several other bands like the Dhalia Llamas (Llama), Jambon, Joe Marc's Brother, The Nevers, The Sneaky Eaters, The Red Herring, and of course Yellow 5/Silent Friction. All of those other bands died out with only Silent Friction surviving. It seemed like they were really going strong too, with records coming out practically every year and some regular touring. I was pretty surprised when I heard Nathan was quitting, since it was him and Matt from the very beginning. Anyway, good luck former Silent Friction boys.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

So it goes.
I was never a fan, but it is sort of sad to see them go.

We haven't heard from board member Mattfriction in a long time. Guess he'll have to change his name.

The last thing that I heard about Silent Friction was a couple of weeks ago from our very own lawnwrangler. He gave me a report on their trip up to Johnson City. He said that they had dropped down to a three piece, and that they sounded better than ever. I have had a great respect for Silent Friction for quite some time now, and there will definitely be a void in Nashville's music scene as a result of their departure.

It's a good point that you make, Keith, about it being the end of an era, although I might argue that the Features were somewhat in that "clique," and they do mightily live on.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a big "reunion" event where all of those bands re-formed to play for one night? Is this what getting old is like...pining for groups of the past to reunite? Or is getting old when they actually do reunite?

I think maybe we met at a show where they played with the Features? Is this true?

There is some truth to that. You had a tape of a Features show for me as well. It was very kind.
