All of you people born in "The South" are required to go to Kroger before you hole up. There is still bread and milk... All Yankees have a snow pass. Grab a beer and watch the hi-larity ensue!!!! I'm setting up my lawn chair and Rolling Rocks at I-65 and Harding.... good times. That is all.

Since I am stuck at home because I know it would be my luck to wreck my car on the way to Kroger, I decided to put on sweatpants and sit on the couch in a blankie watching lame daytime TV.

Has anyone else noticed that channels 2, 4 and 5 have interrupted all regular programming for the past 3 hours in order to show off their proficiency with Stormtracker, Snowbird and Skycam technology?

I just wanted to watch friggin crap TV, but I guess watching interviews with pissed off rednecks wrecked in the snow is just as good. blink.gif

i have to say that being from the north, this is not mega snow. but it is in comparison to most nashville snows. it's snowing pretty hard out there, and i live on a hill. i went out to go to school and there were 5 cars already in the ditch by 9:15am. i'm not getting on the road with those crazy drivers. so i'll just stay in my cozy apartment and try and find something to do. i think it's funny to watch people from nashville try and drive in the snow, it's pretty terrible. good luck to anyone who has to go to work. be careful. i'm just gonna stay here and use my snow pass.... biggrin.gif

lol that's what Damon was saying this afternoon (he being from "the Dub Vee"). In all of my life, the only other time that I recall it being this snowy-hectic outside would have to be 1993 (the Ice Storm) and 1995 (the Snow Storm). Of course there was also the torrential flooding that Murfreesboro faced around March of 2002...the only time in my life to get out of school because of rain.

my workplace shut down at 10:30 this morning, and my usual 10-minute-drive home took an hour an a half, thanks to those helpless souls who have no idea that THIS is why your automatic transmission car has 1st and 2nd gear. i've utilized my time off taking a nap and eating pineapples and apple jacks.

sexy sadie, iwantelvis, and myself spent our afternoon roaming around mtsu's campus, finding hills, and using storage box tops as sleds.....it was the most fun i had ever had in the snow....people get really weird when it snows. everyone reverted back to their prehistoric mindset. people were getting into fights and worshiping deities. we saw a gang of kids making a snowman that was about 7 feet tall....it was like something out of "lord of the flies". i expected any moment to see a kid named piggy get crushed by a snow boulder......

i have been strictly confined to my house today. i've been watching the weather like a soap opera, peering out the window at all the sinister-looking kids, and (oddly enough, smee) eating pineapples. i did venture outside to retrieve my history book from the car. the kid inside me couldn't resist stepping out into the snow from undereath the carport for at least a few steps. i really want to build a snowman. but, alas, i am without a playmate. i guess the few lonely footsteps in my yard will remain lonely. sad.gif oh well, maybe mtsu will be closed tomorrow...?

This was indeed a grand time!!

On the way home I saw two foxes getting down and dirty in the snow by an overpass. It was so sweet.... and a little disturbing. dry.gif

In order for them to consider cancelling class up here in Chicago, the windchill needs to be around -30....

We've had inches of snow for months, and though as a Tennesseean I used to love it, I've quickly grown to hate the snow.

i couldn't make it to work today.

so i played in the snow.

i live over near 8th in nashville, so my friend and i hiked over to belmont to meet up with a couple friends. what a hike. holy cow.

we did some damage... you know...

random snowball fights with strangers, sledding on dangerous objects... the usual.

finished it all off with some thai food and a cold one (also from thai). the cold one was to keep warm (odd enough) on the way home. and that it did.

i'm so tired now. and dry. it's so nice.

get warm with someone you love.

My office closed down at 10am but traffic on west end was so bad I decided to wait it out. Some coworkers and I bar-hopped elliston all afternoon, while being paid, it was great. After visits to Friday's (twice), Sherlock Holmes Pub, and Georges I finally decided to drive home, at 6pm. Personal first: semi-intoxicated driving on ice and snow, whooooo-hoooo!

Well then.

My little Norwich terrier puppy went outside to do his business yesterday and promptly sank all the way into the powder. You could see some little pointy ears and that was about it. Eventually he got the hang of it, though, and by noon he was bouncing Pepe-La-Peu style all over the yard.

A fellow labmate said some friends of hers built a snowpenis in her front yard as a prank. She thought it was funny and well done, so she and her fiance kept it.

I heard story about another snowpenis in the vicinity of Vanderbilt. I wonder if it was the same or if there were multiple peni. Any other snowpenis spottings?

It was OK to call it a blizzard last week, because it was by Tennessee standards, but tonight is just a dusting. I am amazed that it has snowed and stuck twice within one week.

That seems to be the pattern here. We'll go two or three years with no snow. Then we'll get several good snows in a month. Very odd.

Tonight's snow is very unusual for Tennessee. It's very powerdy. It's actually blowing around out there... like sands through the hourglass or something.

Where's that global warming when you need it?

It snowed quite a decent amount here (in Johnson City, for those of you who don't know) as well. In fact, it snowed enough to get my out of classes for today. I L-O-V-E getting out classes. Jenny came in my room at 10 this morning and said, "No school!!!" I just rolled over and turned off my alarm clock. It was a nice feeling...like I was back in High School again. We only got out one day last year at ETSU. We have been let out two in the past week. That is decent.

I wrecked my car this morning going to school (MTSU). I think its ridiculous that when the roads are that bad, AND the roads, parking lots, and side walks on campus are covered with snow and ice, that they dont have school on a late schedule at least. Now i have to pay to get my damn car fixed. I also saw this chick about fall walking to class. I'm pissed. and very tired.

I don't blame you in the least bit. Johnson City is right in there with the Appalachian Mountains, so we have a lot of students who live in the mountains. I think that is why they called us out (and the fact that the city sucks, and they don't salt the main roads..just the highways).

Yeah the Midwest sucks. I'm in Chicago and when I left for class yesterday, the high was -4 degrees with a windchill that made it feel like -25. My roommate's hands got so chapped from the cold that they started bleeding.
