Just got tickets for Sonic Youth in Louisville, KY. This will be my 4th show. This one will be kinda special because the decision to go has been completely on the fly. i'm eager to hear how murray street sounds live. actually i missed out on the first tour last summer. i'm just rambling but i wish the world could understand my fascination with this band. hopefully i can finally meet them and get them to sign my Sister LP.

so....has anyone else seen Sonic Youth? and what did you think? share some stories please.............
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

I've seen them a few times since the Thousand Leaves tour. I usually end up meeting Lee Ranaldo at shows, and have approached/met Thurston once.

My fascination with the band has dwindled over the years. I attribute it to many things. I haven't bought Mrray Street and haven't listened to them in a while.

Still...I will always love the guitar skronk, and theirs is the best.

i havent seen sponic youth live but i did recently see a documentary on them that was made around the time of "nyc ghosts and flowers". it was called "kool things and silver rockets: 20 years of sonic youth".......it was very good. i've been obsessively playing "teenage riot" lately.......

ray, where did you see this documentary? i want to see it........

yadadada, you should really try to listen to murray street. i wasn't too fond with a thousand leaves, but the last two records have been quite amazing. although murray street is somewhat simple than the complex nyc ghosts and flowers. they still namage to have many sonic explosions of noise.

sonic youth live is amazing experience and i suggest everyone try it.....

ditto the wanting to see the documentary.

I've heard it. It reminded me a lot of ground that the band covered a long time ago.

Their live shows are great, but I don't think they are for every one.
