Hey folks,
I know a lot of you guys are of course interested in The Features' old label, so I figure I'd share an interesting find with you guys that I made this morning.

Several months ago, I was been searching for some info on the New System since they seem to be the least known-about band on the roster, and their last signing ever, so I was sort of intrigued. Someone told me that they were "latin rock shit," so I wasn't expecting much at all. I failed to find anything on them, but I did find their new band, which, as I understand it, is the New System line-up with a new name and perhaps new system: Suburban Tragedy. Their site seemed to mention nothing about TNS or SB, but the names of those involved were identical so I figured it'd had to have been them. Anyway, I listened to a song off their then-current CD ("Been Around"), and left the site in disgust. It was pretty awful.

Anyway, I returned yesterday out of sheer boredom to find that they had a new CD and a video. I decided to check out the video for the hell of it, and it turned out to be pretty bareable. Nothing special, but it wasn't half as shitty as that "Been Around" garbage. So I listened to the sample of "Kitty" and it actually sounded pretty cool.

The new CD is apparently out on some other label, but check this out: merchandise page. Their old CD, "Fun For the Kids"...Spongebath 2002!?! Holy crap! Considering everyone I've spoken to says that Spongebath was definitely down and out for good by 2001, I found this most interesting. I'm not sure if it's a typo or whatnot, but who knows? Maybe they put out one last CD in 2002. In light of my recent wealth intake from my birthday, I'd probably shed some bucks to make sure, but it appears to be sold out. Also, check out the music page and DL the Radio Clip 1 to hear a bit about Spongebath...he even mentions Self for a second. (It's towards the end, it's a rather lengthy clip) He refers to getting signed on that label as if they were signed as Suburban Tragedy, and the sole article I found on TNS on Google says that they had been making trips to Nashville to record an album, so maybe that's what became "Fun For the Kids."

Who knows. I think it's pretty intriguing, though, and figured I'd share. Sorry if I'm overreacting and making an ass of myself, but finding a previously unknown SB release seems like pretty big news to me (granted that it's not some error). Whatever!

Also, here's that article I found. It tells the story of how TNS got signed, and interestingly mentions that SB regularly sent them checks just for being on the roster (did all the other bands get that treatment?).

P.S. I know I'm posting this on 3 separate boards word for word, some of which the members overlap, but I figured it'd interest all of the audiences, so yeah. Enjoy!
