I think "Star Trek" is the much nerdier choice, but I chose it anyway. It presents a much better vision of the future than "Star Wars." (Yes, yes, I know that "Star Wars" is set in the past, but their worlds are so much more technically advanced than ours that it represents our future.) In "Star Trek," technology is generally friendly and helps people. No matter who you are, you can make a significant contribution. In "Star Wars," there is a very strict class system, and the fate of the universe is decided by a few pre-selected individuals.

Ha! Technology is friendly? Helps people? Have you forgotten the Borg my good man? It is the ultimate example of technology gone awry. Where do we find it - Star Trek. Humph. Star Wars is by far the superior beast in this one I'm affraid.

Is there really a choice here? To show my age, I remember standing in a line around the block with my dad to see Star Wars when I was 7. This was in Iowa, none the less, where the biggest traffic jam is after church.

Just like bullseyeing womprats back home in Beggar's Canyon. You're going down Star Trek!!!! BRRRRAAAAAAAAAWK!!!!

Star wars gets my vote. I do remember this really cool episode of star trek called "the game" and it was about this game ythat you put on your head and you got addicted to it and went crazy and it killed you. pretty cool.

however, in my opinion, nothing beats the love/hate relationship of han solo and princess leah, wanting to kill C3PO, wanting to kill Lando then forgiving him again, yoda's clever ruse to test luke and see if he's "ready", the triumphant end of a new hope that didn't get old until Jedi. But Jedi redeemed itself with the best happy ending ever.

ah, star wars... tongue.gif

Two words: Death Star

And what about the Millenium Falcon? It always breaks down. How is that a happy vision for our future?

I enjoy that vision of the future. Star Wars is more realistic to me since nothing in that universe is perfect and the people have personalities. Star Trek just seems to be void of heart. It's all so organized and sterile to me. Star Wars is funnier, superior, better action...so superior in all ways.

Star Wars all the way, though I'd say its name has been tarnished in the last few years with The Phantom Menance and to a much, much less degree with Attack of the Clones. I'm hoping the much better Clones points to a great conclusion to the new trilogy.

I can say that I went and saw the first Star Trek movie in the theatres. It is my first memory of going to a movie with my dad and it was at the old twin theatres that used to be in Harding Mall (back in the day when it smelled like carmelcorn). I've liked the movies until recently, though not because I have anything against the "Next Generation" characters. I watched that series fairly regularly for a while. But that's really it as far as my Star Trek watching.

Star Wars.....most definitely.....though i do find star trek and william shatner in particular to be very funny at times. i used to watch star trek and star wars with my mom as a kid. i loved data on the next generation, but i always liked star wars better than star trek.....

I generally like Star Wars better, so I voted for it. I can watch it any time. Star Trek I kind of have to be in the mood for. If episodes are back-to-back, I get very addicted to to it.

i voted for star trek because my favorite uncle has pointy ears that resemble spock's. i've never seen star treck or star wars. but star trek was lagging in the vote ad i associated star trek with my favorite uncle...so, you see how my decision was reached. actually i just wanted to comment on how disgy's new avatar/member title combo is great and makes my girlish heart skip a beat. hey, at least i tried to make my post relevant.

void of heart?!? sterile?!? you're half right. i will tell you that jimmy kirk(original series) is cooler than your precious boba-fett. honestly i think star trek is funnier too. i'm not sure if the things i laugh at in star wars were intended to be funny. Which half am I right in? I think Star Trek is more "sterile" than "void of heart." Over the summer I really tried to watch the classic Star Trek on a daily basis around noon just to see what I was missing, and when I did remember I must say that it was funny. It was funny in the way that everything was made of cardboard and William Shatner's acting was...just...hill...arouis.

Of course, if it came down to it and Kirk was getting with one of Boba's main wenches, Boba would be all up on him like a ninja on a pirate (thank you YaDaDaDa). Kirk doesn't have a helmet OR a rocket back-pack (nevermind that said backpack got him eaten by the Sarlaac pit...).

Utini! Utini! No wabba wonka.

i'm stupid for laughing at that. these guys from alabama i knew(the whitey herzogs and friends) used to make up porn names by combining their middle name and the street they live on. my name would be nicholas clifton.

ive heard this before. mine would be elaine hotchkiss.

my friend anna's is the best though: lauren honeysuckle

I've also heard to combine your pet's name with your street name to get your "porn star name" in which case mine in high school would have been "gwendolyn andrews" or most currently, "aurora hotchkiss"

I could be Timothy Monte Bella starring in Luscious Linda's Horny Holiday.

Speaking of porn, someone is producing a musical version of Debbie Does Dallas. I wish I was making that up...

Mine would be ______ Sharondale. Man, that sucks.

I guess it would be better if I 1) actually had a middle name and 2) moved to keith's neighborhood where all the street names are states.

it's ok. maybe that means you'd be one of those outstanding porn stars that only needs one name...you know, kind of like cher, madonna, or (dare i say) seal.

In that case, I'm gonna go with my previous address: Inverness. Actually, the same road was called Montrose the next block over. Now that's a good porn name!

Thanks for the support, HSS.

For the record, both of those names would be fantastic porn names, especially if the first was pronounced Came-a-lot. Longwood would obviously be a great male porn star name.
