TOPIC: Stumbling up onto the 'Advanced Member' podium...
Posted  Sunday, March 10, 2002 at 4:05 AM
Post 1 of 19
In honor of my becoming an 'Advanced Member', I have decided to change my signature from a paltry Blur lyric to something that I feel really strongly about.  Yeah, that's right, FUCK THE MONKEES.  I watched the VH1 movie about them the other day, and it reminded me of just how shitty this band was.  Fucking Beatles knockoffs.  Fucking actors.  I laughed extra hard during the parts where they were upset because they were not getting any respect or critical acclaim.  And the part where they start playing their own instruments and subsequently *stop* selling records is especially great.  I loved watching them be jealous of the Beatles.  Micky, Davy, you suck.  Peter, Mike, you guys REALLY suck, wipe those smiles off your faces.  FUCK THE MONKEES. (x251) HaHaHa!

have you ever heard 'porpoise song'? it wasn't written or performed by them, but it might make you want to buy a greatest hits. congrats on becoming advanced.

Did you sneak Party of Five into your relevance list? Did you think we weren't going to notice? Party of Five, sir, is no 90210. It isn't even a Melrose Place.

But congratulations nonetheless on becoming only the 2nd (?) advanced member. Neuboy had a chance at it, but he couldn't take the heat anymore. If BrianEno2 were alive today, he would be proud.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

Sneaking it in? Party of Five was the best of all of those shows. It is one of a VERY short list of shows that I have ever become full-on addicted to. Actually, it's one of my favorite TV shows EVER. I miss it so much.

Samantha was hot, but that never was the source of the debate on that show...

Which Darren?
Dick Sargeant or Dick York?

I don't think Party of Five disappeared.  I vaguely remember watching the 'last episode.'  It was only the second episode that I ever saw.  The first one I saw was the one with R.E.M.

Incidently, jamie, I think this topic is another classic example of how our conversations suddenly change direction. You started by talking about having sex with monkeys, and now we're talking about Bewitched. Beautiful.

I remember the last episode of Party of Five well.  Charlie and Kirsten's wedding by the ocean was nice.  Claud got accepted to college.  But it was so sad when Sarah decided to move to New York, leaving Bailey behind.  This kind of segued into the Sarah spinoff series, 'Time of Your Life', which lasted all of about 10 episodes.  As much as I love Sarah, it just didn't work without Bailey.  God I wish Sarah and Bailey had gotten married.

In regard to why we are discussing this, may I quote Saint Eno2, 'All relevant topics eventually come up.'

can i just point and laugh at you for referring to claudia as 'claud'?
i, woefully irrelevant, a plebian, amongst the dregs of this message board, still a mere newbie....i do think congratulations are in order as you've matched quality with quantity. don't hang that hat up just yet, sir.

Relevant: I was just watching 'Family Guy' and Peter was at the tax return place and they told him he was not getting any money back - so he screams and the lady ask what was that for - he said 'Party of Five' - I just thought that was funny since it had just been talked about on here

family guy is super relevant.

Hell yeah, especially since they started showing an hour at a time every thursday. Norm MacDonald guest-voiced as Death, pretty funny.
