TOPIC: Stupid cars, stupid mechanics, stupid boys...

AAHHHH! I am SO mad!

1. I hate that my car's check engine light is on.

2. My dad blames this on me since I was the one that took the car to the shop a couple days ago.

3. From now on, we must "play by his rules" meaning only those possessing a penis will drive MY car to the shop to oversee it's repair.

4. It further pisses me off that they will probably do a better job on the car if he takes it.. because I should get just the same service for my money as an old, fat, balding male.

5. I wish my father would take said vehicle and shove it up his arse.

I just want to be allowed to take care of my own affairs!! I'm fairly certain I am just as capable of sitting in a waiting room while my car is repaired as my WONDERFUL father is. I will now go pout about how unfair this is and how I have to live with my parents for another 24 days... let the count-down begin.

well, it is true that mechanics often times will do better work for males... it's sexist, but true.

Okay, I'm going to be a big dick and ask: Who paid for the car?

The key is to find a good mechanic - one that you can develop a realationship with and trust.

why does it always have to be about the money?

I paid for 1/4 of it.. and will gladly pay for repairs.. either way, I still think my parents should want me to take responsibility for the upkeep of the car that I drive.

Of course, after cooling down a bit.. I realize that this really isn't such a big deal.

Like I said before.. I just would like to be treated like I'm competent. That's all.

I totally agree and I can definitely relate. My dad was always insistent that I be independent and take care of all my car expenses, but he could never resist to step in when he saw the opportunity to "get the job done right". In the long run, though, he's just trying to look out for you because he probably loves you and stuff. That's something to be thankful for, right? smile.gif

Dang, they're just being polite; though they are being paid to be polite and not so much doing so on their own terms.

Is being a gentleman unacceptable in 2003?

You know what pisses me off? Every time I go to Waffle House, some girl comes up to me wanting to bring me my food!!

"Oh, so because I'm a man, I don't know how to bring myself my own food?"

You wanna know what pisses me off? People on the message board saying "dont be a dick man, I know who you are" When the fact of the matter is that weenysmack is pretty much the only one on this board that really "knows who I am" besides a few people that dont check it.

Sorry YaDaDaDa,
didnt mean to offend you in any way. Just wanted to share the information that weenysmack's father is a small engine mechanic and industrial mechanic.....he doesnt per se work on cars, but im sure he knows more than you or I about it.

I love all of you!!!
Dont be so up tight. Just typing on a message board!

Anywho,
I'm seeing Neil Young tonight!!!!

whoops,
sorry yadadada, it was stalker on skates that said i was a dick.
But I guess, I just think give credit where credit is due. If a man or woman knows thier stuff, dont get mad at them for taking control of the situation.
The fact of the matter is, i know many people at college who have everything taken care of for them by thier parents. I think "WOW thats awesome!" The problem is, so much gets taken for granted by those people. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, but i know one thing, if i had everything taken care of as far as college, cars, food, rent, etc etc...or even a portion of that,......i would LOVE it and not take any of it for granted. My father sees that im in financial trouble, he says, "Son, i want to see if you can make it through this on your own"........granted this is the same man who hasnt given me or my sister our christmas present from 2001 yet. My mother will help me out if i really need it, but i hate asking her for it. She's got enough to worry about.
Anywho, weenysmack, i think its awesome to have a dad that will take care of your car, and everything else that he does. Sometimes you just have to forget about your ego, and let the guy(or girl) who knows his shit, take control of the situation. I know you hate it though. But its a luxury that alot of us dont have.
K
oh my,
what kinda response do i get to that?

How many times do you have to meet someone before you can consider them a dick?

its hard to convey one's tone when typing on a message board. while I have been known to do insane incredible feminist hulk stuff before, I am also aware that it is ridiculous. so, i was being truthful, but also making fun of myself. just for the record. i don't hate men and i don't hate gentlemen. that only actually happened once and i think it was "that time of the month" if you catch my "drift"

mark spencer, don't be a dick. i know where you live.
thank you for being a friend.

Hmmm........i dont really have a response to anything else right now. I guess being a dick is natural to my personality. I'm gonna be a grumpy old man......yes.....i will. And ill act like im gonna do nice things for girls......like carry thier groceries, or open the door. Then Ill drop the bag of groceries on the ground, jumping on them, breaking all the eggs, and slam the door into the girls' faces......Because i like to do stuff like that. Its all part of my master plan.

it's the principle of the matter that gets my goat... and the way he acted toward me hurt my feeling a great deal.. besides.. if my father were such a great mechanic.. he'd fix the blasted car himself, but alas, apparently a car isn't really the same as a lawn mower.

my dad doesn't take care of my car out of some unconditional desire to help me out.. he does it so he can say.. "if you want to work at girl scout camp this summer, you better start walking becuase you aren't taking my car" (well, okay.. to be fair.. maybe he does do it because he wants to help me.. but the whole being able to tell me what to do is an added perk)
