about 3 hours ago I was upstairs on my comuter and watching tv and my little sister comes up and says my parents need to see me, I walk downstairs and there's like 15 of my friends in my kitchen for my birthday, which is tomarrow (May 5th), I was totally suprised, and very happy, I've had a sucky day, because of the subject in the FlyingFeaturesFansGF topic, but this made me very happy, but this is kind of funny that I had a suprise birthday, because last night I took place in a suprise party for another friend. anyways, I'm just happy so i thought I'd share

Well, yay. I'm glad you had a nice ending to a not so nice day. Are you getting your liscense soon? You must be psyched.

It's Yo Birfday! Glad you had an awesome night. Don't worry bout your old girl either... just think of this as a time to find a better one. when you do get a car, invest in a radar detector. No matter what anyone says, this is not a WASTE OF MONEY and will greatly enhance your driving experience.

Gosh, you're just a high-tech fool, aren't you? Cell phones, radar detectors...

haha, I'm not too sure about the high-tech part, I could very well be a fool though. I don't actually own a radar detector, I just wish I had one. There is no greater feeling than (safely) speeding down a winding road. And to think that someone would hide behind a concealed driveway waiting to ruin the driver's fun boggles my mind. Aren't there drug dealers and murderers to arrest? How about those crazy people who do 110 on I-24 during rush hour??? Anyway, In no way do I endorse wreckless driving or excessive speeding. It would just be nice to get a "heads up" before officer bob decides to put down his doghnut and pull you over way out in the middle of nowhere.

yeah, I've never really taken part in one until last saturday, but yeah it was nice, since it was a surprise, no one had to show up, but they did, and that to me is the best part

That's great. I figured that some people do like surprise parties. I do not! I had one for my 15th birthday, and I hated it. So I asked my parents to please never throw me a surprise party again. They did not honor my wishes, and had another one for my 21st birthday. I hated it again. Maybe some of you were there? I really can't remember. I've all but blocked it out. I'm not really sure why I dislike them so much, but I think it has something to do with HATING surprises in general. I like to be in control.

Now it's actually your birthday, I would like to wish you well again. Getting your license is a lot of fun, but I'm sure it is even more fun if you have your own car, which I didn't. Anyway, maybe you do, and maybe 16 will be much greater than 15 was. Both high school and college can be hit or miss, I have found. I hope that it is, for you, spot on, and that you have the time of your life. Anyway, happy birthday to you, my friend!

i dont know anyone who has ever liked their own surprise party, or even their own birthday party! its way too much pressure to feel like you have to please everyone by being surprised and happy about being surprised. i had one on my 14th, i think. i remember just walking backwards, wanting to cry and leave, and being disappointed by a lot of people that my mom invited. i had actually planned a really cool birthday party at a hotel for all of my friends to stay at, and i thought that we were just picking up one of the girls at her house to go to the hotel. i was very disappointed that we didnt get to do the hotel thing and that i had to have a lame pool party instead where the cake is difficult to eat because youre wet from the pool and no one wants to watch you open presents because they are too busy having fun swimming. plus, i was 14! the most insecure age EVER to (1) have a surprise party, (2) to go swimming with 7th grade boys, and (3) go swimming with a ton of 7th grade boys in front of my parents [not like anything happened, it was just weird... imagine it].
oh the drudgery of being wet

take it from me, a former 7th grade boy. It was much harder for the boys to be in the pool. (Full on pun intended)

I have these two friends who used to have a joint birthday party. When it was time to open presents they would go to a room alone and open all the presents. They said it cut down on all the pressure of having to pretend that you liked the shitty presents. It make sense to me...

ive never had a surpise bday party, but i don't think i would like it. when its my birthday, it is my day, i wear the crown, i call the shots, i make the guest list, i decide on the bars, etc.

one time for my ex best friends birthday, I bought her a tori amos ticket in atlanta. she knew i was going and she cried and got so pissed that her mom wouldn't let her go.
she felt really stupid when we told her that we had been planning it all along.
thank you for being a friend.

I've also never had a surprise party, and I'm pretty sure I would rather not have one. I'm sure I would just be uncomfortable.

On the subject of surprise parties (and the recent talk of X-Men): I threw a surprise party for a buddy at my house 3 years ago. He came over to pick me up, expecting to see X-Men on opening night. Instead, about a dozen of his friends were waiting to get him drunk and take him to Deja Vu to see boobies. I realize many of you are thinking that he got cheated out of X-Men, but trust me, he had a good time. He eventually saw X-Men a few days later.

I was there, but I don't remember anything other than that. We must have celebrated by going out and drinking, go figure.
