the big question should be: what time does everyone eat their thanksgiving meal? i know few people who eat at 6 or 7:00 pm (like my family does). what's up with everyone eating at 2 pm? i don't understand. i think it's a southern thing.

happy turkey day. or if you're vegetarian, tofurkey.

i love turkey. the rest of my family are big on having ham on thanksgiving, which im not a fan of. ham is for christmas not thanksgiving!! the stuffing is the best of all, though.

our family is eating at 2:30 today. leftovers are dinner. probably for tommorrow, too. i cant imagine waiting until 7 to eat. when we eat with family in indiana, they eat at 2ish as well.

damon and i have been debating whether it's tofurkey or faux-turkey for some time now... I'd like to see a tofurducken/faux-turducken.

and i think the 2-3 p.m. meal might be a southern thing. I think it's also a large family thing.

i dislike turkey and chicken. turkey is so dry and unflavorful. chicken is only good if you cover it in something else that tastes good.

While I agree that turkey doesn't have much flavor, I can't see how you can possibly deny the greatness of chicken w/o toppings. Fried chicken...mmmm. Barbequed chicken is excellent as well, but most people don't fix it well. My granddad prepares it on his Japanese hibachi (sp?) and it is in my top ten favorite meals of all time.

I do like turkey and ham for Thanksgiving. Stuffing and cranberry salad are gross. Eww

My family will be having our Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow at 4, which is in-between freakishly early and actual dinner time.

I had a turkey sandwich today, though... in between working a double at the ol' grindmill...

In-between? I'd say 4 is freakishly early for actual dinner time. I usually eat at around 8, even 9 some nights.

Dinner started at around five-thirty tonight, and there was yummy turkey (dark meat, naturally), dressing (stuffing?), mashed potates, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, piping hot dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.

I took a nap afterwards.
That's so NA.

I've always thought so too, until this year, when we did
FRIED TURKEY
for the first time!

I cannot overstate how incredibly good fried turkey is - so juicy, so flavorful, and the skin...mmmmm. I don't think I can ever go back to oven-baked turkey.

We usually do Thanksgiving at about 2:00.

thanksgiving was fun. we had regular turkey and smoked turkey (which was gross). my favorites this year, though, were broccoli casserole and sweet potatoes (not yams!). i'm also a fan of cranberry sauce. but it has to be the jellied, not whole berry, kind. and it has to be poured out of the can so that the product holds the shape of the can. no messing around with real cranberries. and it mut be cold. color me picky.

the only bad thing about thanksgiving is that everyone is out of town for the whole weekend. it sucks to come home to an empty apartment and have all your friends be still out of town. one is the lonliest number......sad.gif

Hee hee.

I had a fake turkey lunchmeat sandwich tonight. I guess that's the extent of my turkey eating.

My family eats lunch at my grandparent's on Thanksgiving, so we ate around 12:30 or so yesterday. I don't eat the meat, so I pig out on vegetables of all sorts.

I've been cooking all day today for my other Thanksgiving dinner that my family is having tomorrow with my other grandmother at my house. I'm looking forward to it. It's like three days of Thanksgiving.

I heard that something in eucolyptus acts as a euphoric, so koalas spend their entire lives in a stoned-like state. I wonder if that cooks out...

And I like turkey, but not when Thanksgiving falls on my birthday. dry.gif Good Thanksgiving = sucky b-day.

Turkey is great. The fried variety is even better.

Ham is grooooooossss.

The side dishes usually take priority over the rest for me, though. Stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie = yummy.

The best, though, is my mom's fruitcake and Christmas pudding, our one British tradition we stick to like glue. All desserts taste better when they have alcohol in them. And that's a fact.

Hope everyone's Thanksgiving was great!
