This talk of this year so far in music has made me think that I really think I like last year better, so far. Here were my top albums of 2001:

is this it by the strokes was the best album of 2001, hands down.

however, i also enjoyed "The photo album" by death cab for cutie, "poses" by rufus wainwright, the self titled stephen malkmus album, as well as the nuggets II box set (which is fucking awesome, i might add). those are the albums that really blew my mind last year.

2001 was a great year. I agree with the Strokes & BF & Weezer & Rufus W. & of course the Features. I'd also add:

The Shins- Oh Inverted World
Circulatory System- self-titled
Beulah- The Coast is Never Clear
Built to Spill- Ancient Melodies of the Future.

Hmm...I will agree with Weezer's "Green" and The Features. "Is This It" was really amazing and whatnot, but in my retarded opinion "Veni Vidi Vicious" is hands down my favorite album of 2001.
