I was getting my ass rocked by Slack at the Exit/In. I heard about the De Novo Dahl show because I read the Rage, but I get to see Slack a lot less often. Plus, it's only a matter of time before they make it big (see last week's Under the Wire in the Nashville Rage), so I had to see them in a small venue while I still could.

To answer the larger question of why "no one" came, I don't think they promoted their show very well if at all. I don't think I saw any flyers and I hardly ever get their mailing list show announcements. It's a shame because I know they have legions of fans who would go see them but are too lazy to check their website or read the Rage.

Oh, and I agree-- Derek is the shit. The other guys seem pretty cool, too.

when i say no one, i just meant that i didn't see people i expected to see there. jamiecarroll, and others that i usually see at their shows. i liked it, it was great for it being small and intimate and fun and they were really relaxed (they're always relaxed), but i felt bad for them because i think especially after the slow bar show, that they expected for more people to come. anyway, i'm glad you had a good time at slack, carligula, i just really love denovodahl. they make me happy. especially derek, did i already say that? biggrin.gif and he's so, so, so, nice. on the subject of denovodahl though, they are playing on march 17th at the belcourt with aireline, the rugs, and tyler james. i don't know many people who have heard of him, but i saw him at 12th and porter for 12@12th on monday night in like november or something, and it was great. i think everyone should try and go.

If you sign up for their mailing list from the site, you will always get the latest show info from Amanda, their mailing list admin. I always get mine! Also, someone said they announced it on the radio several times. I think there were just too many good shows last night!

Lest you all forget the girl that plays the omnichord. Though she is married to the lead singer, her matching orange beret and sweater at the End were enough to win my adoration for life. I also got to talk to her at the apartment of De Novo Dahl's administrator and she is super, super nice. Such a caring individual...

Well, this was news to me. I didn't know they were playing or I surely would have gone. But as it was, I too was at the Slack show. Where did De Novo Dahl play?

Oh and I will surely be at that Belcourt show.

it was at 12th and porter. it was really small and intimate, and still fun. but i know it seemed like they were disappointed at the turnout. i don't know. i was surprised not to see you there. when i bought a ticket to the belcourt show, they had sold tons already, so if people want them, go to their website and it will tell you how to get them earlier. i think. or i can tell you. wink.gif
maybe i could sing along
to your neverending songs,
i'm just looking for some fun

because i usually don't go out to shows unless the features are playing. sad, but true.

and if there was any band worthy of someone's undivided attention and commitment, it would be the features. i just know there are a lot of de novo dahl fans on this board. so i just figured i'd see some there.
