TOPIC: The Flaming Lips

Woohoo...and I got tickets. Before the Yo La Tengo show, I discovered that The Flaming Lips are playing in my town on April 15th at the 40 Watt. My poor heart sunk as I discovered they were all sold out at Yo Yo Low records next door. I was mad mad.gif and sad sad.gif that I had not found out about this show sooner, as I am a faithful reader of our Flagpole magazine. However, the next morning, I obtained some tickets at Schoolkids and all is well biggrin.gif . It looks like they had a stack of them left when I asked for mine, but those might have been just nicklecreek tickets..blehh. Anyways, they're $17 if anyone is interested. Is anyone else going to this show?
Why would you do that?

Well, maybe if I could get tickets. But that sounds highly unlikely. Dammit!

From Athens, Greece to Athens, Georgia. Cute.

yeah, I noticed that too. I think they did that on purpose. I didn't mean for it to sound completely impossible to get tickets. I'm sure if you call school kids you could get some. or ask your friendly athenian to get one for you wink.gif

athens is one of my favorite places. i think it is the blueprint for the perfect college town. i first visited about three yrs ago w/ neuboy, roadie and a few others for the kindercore festival. does 8-track gorilla still do his thing? absolute genius! i only returned last wednesday night to play with a very shitty band in a very deserted Tasty World. By the way green rode shotgun is coming to tasty world in april i do believe.

oh and for the record little jeans, i'm a big fan of yer avitar. st. anderson is cherished by many of us here.
You know you have problems, with both money and alcohol, when you find yourself shoving beers down your pants outside a Features show.

I'm sorry everyone. I just called school kids to see how many more tickets were left for those of you who asked. They sold out as of a few hours ago. I wish I had found out sooner. I made an attempt! sad.gif

I'm not sure if that's the last of them completely, but I'll find out and let you know.

I'm still pissed at them. Maybe they'll make Uptown Mix this year.

athens reminded me of a bigger mufreesboro. even down to having the local bitches hatin at the house party we went to. but alas, i enjoyed athens and all the drama it brought out.

So do you have a B-52s or REM story to go along with this?

going back to the topic at hand, i watched an old episode of "reverb" (that HBO music show) that had soft bulletin-era flaming lips on it and summerteeth-era wilco on it. i was watching the flaming lips part and it just made me want to see them live really really bad.

now carry on with the athens converation....
