TOPIC: the monkees HEAD

whether you like the monkees or not (which i think everyone on this board does) you should see the movie head. if you've already seen it, good for you! it's classic. they really captured the whole "we're on drugs and we hate the guys who stole our souls and sold us as a fake image" motif. and for fuck's sake, its the monkees.
thank you for being a friend.

Exactly.

I'm glad to see someone other than me standing up for The Monkees for a change.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

Do you know what, Ray? I own the Monkee's greatest hits, and truth be told, I like some of the songs. I just don't respect them as a band. It's kind of like how I feel about N*Sync. I like some of their music, but I have trouble respecting them as a band, because they were purely an industry creation, and had little or no input into the creation of their music.

i understand why you feel the way you do and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, dear sir. i like the monkees. i think their great. i respect them for what they were and i dont fault them for their choices.

but i respect your opinion. i may not like it, but i respect it.

And, no, that's not a compliment.

There is no reason to ridicule a person over a simple spelling mistake that was more than likely caused by quickly typing a reply to a message and not by the fact that he/she attends MTSU.

Question:Are people that go to MTSU less intelligent or "stupidder" than your average person, specifically another college student (graduate)?

Answer: Well class, that's hard to say. People in general at MTSU are less intelligent than your normal college student, that is, if we're using average college board scores as a mark of intelligence. However, ACT/SAT score are actually supposed to only signify predicted success, so that argument may not be valid even though "expected success in college" would probably have a high correlation with intelligence, or more acurately, ability to learn. So, in essense, while there may be no hard proof that people that currently attend or have attended Middle Tennessee State University are less intelligent, or more ignorant, than otherwise similar students, its important to utilize any chance you're presented with to make fun of people.

Anyway... about the Monkees giving head (or whatever this topic is about)... Were the Monkees the first band created by a corporation, or were they the first one to become really popular?

And to tie all this stuff back to Michael Jackson (where every good conversation should end up at), what happened to Bubbles, his pet monkey? Did he get replaced in the bed by a 12-year-old cancer patient and/or a Culkin? Did he get upset after Michael beat him in go-cart racing one too many times? Was he not allowed to climb the magic tree? MJ still has his giraffes and blankets, but where is Bubbles?

On a Features related note: Does Matt Pelham have a magic tree that he wrote "Treehouse Club" from?

jamiecarrol, i understand what yr saying... however, i think HEAD was their way of showing that they were pissed off about being manufactured and controlled. mike and peter were both musicians in the first place and wanted more creative control of their records but couldn't have it. music industry bastards.

and as for all this fighting, well bejesus, yous guys.

OH YEAH - as for the subtopic at hand, here's my 2 cents:
I go to what is considered a "smart school" and i fucking hate it and everyone there is retarded and in fraternities and say stupid shit all the time. from what I understand, I would enjoy MTSU a hell of a lot more.

Certainly not. In the early days of Rock, record companies created several "cover" bands that simply reperformed already recorded music from black musicians that they deemed unmarketable.

Well, see, I was getting bored just watching you bizarre furries doing your dry humps and what-not and some guys in the "Furry Watching Heated and Catered Tent" placed a bet on who could infiltrate your "Horney Like A Wolf" pack. I lost the bet and had to put on a wolf suit but to truly be a sneaky ninja-like infiltrator, I had to put on the sheep's skin. By the way, you guys are sick. Typical.
What can I say? I'm decidedly less intelligent. I guess I should have proofread my own post mocking "grammar police." Are you marking off for spelling also? If so, you should at least be more thorough. I misspelled accurately and essence.
I was just busting your balls, man. You seem like a sharp enough guy to me.

That depends. Will your story have anything in it about midget amputees, japanese anime porn, and/or professional wrestling? Wait, why am I asking? Of course it will! To be the great American novel it would have to include all three.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of professional japanese midget wrestling porn, with a little anime thrown in for good measure, but that might be hard to flesh out into novel form. You're hired.
