TOPIC: The Talented Man Behind It All

I was browsing the sites of bands I wanted news from when I saw that the new self site is finally up... and what a treat it was. Simple, elegant, and clever... I immediately recognized it to be the flash brilliance of our own michael. Seems he's lending his golden touch to more of murfreesboro's best.

Now if only we had a release date, or more samples from the new record...

Anyhow, people should check it out at www.selfmusic.net . Its just a really cool site.

Good stuff michael.

I've never met the guy, even after posting on boards with him for about 4 years now. He's stays so quiet on this board that BrianW gets a lot of credit, but michael is our un-sung hero.

I'm going to selfmusic right now because I've been curious to see it.

I like the teasers. It's off to a good start, but it's pretty minimal. I gather there will be more design around it when the album is designed.

I am starting to look forward to a new Self release. I need to go find another copy of Giz, since mine was stolen from Token's car.

Yeah, there isn't much content up yet, but it's still really well designed and ultra-smooth.

Uhhh.. thanks. I was a little freaked out by the topic - but that's alright, I'm not a topic that should come up that often.

There are 3 loops on the Self site now and I've got 2 more sitting in my INBOX waiting to be implemented (will do that over the weekend). So that's 5 song teasers.. not half bad.

The site probably won't get a ton more complex in terms of design as more and more content comes in - just because of the whole idea behind the name "Ornament & Crime."

The album comes out in September (supposedly) and I believe all the recording and mixing is done. The album art is in production, so it seems like they are slightly on schedule. Might need to service their first single soon.

i really appreciate your comments.. I hope that the Features take off and that this site gets loads of traffic and people enjoy it. The band certainly deserves it.

I know what you mean. When I was missing in action for a little over 24 hours last summer, damon took it upon himself to start a thread discussing where I had disappeared to. My internet connection was all messed up at my apartment, and I actually came to my mom's house (where I'm actually living now) to check the board. Ah...The days of messageboard addiction. Anyway, it felt pretty weird to be a topic of discussion. But, it was flattering in a nerdy way.

Sorry to startle; you have just done wonderful work here and when I saw the Self site, I thought others should see your other wonderful work, especially considering the fact that the self site is a totally different experience.

And I hope that it doesn't get more complex, just more content-laden, as appropriate. I think that the simplicity is one of the strong points.

Based on the three loops (when I complained that there were too few, there had only been two) I can't wait for this record.
